Role Description
The Warehouse Keeper is responsible for the safe receipt, storage, issuance, and accurate record-keeping of all materials held on site including copper cathodes, copper scrap, finished rod coils, spare parts, consumables, and packaging. The role ensures physical stock always matches system records, materials are available when production needs them, and storage conditions protect material quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the receiving, storage, issuance, and movement of materials including copper cathodes, copper scrap, finished rod coils, spare parts, consumables, and packaging materials.
- Verify incoming materials against POs, delivery documents, quantities, weights, and condition, and coordinate with QC and Logistics for proper acceptance.
- Ensure safe and organized storage, proper bin/rack/yard locations, labeling, and appropriate stacking of copper materials and rod coils.
- Issue materials to Production and Maintenance against approved requisitions and ensure materials are prepared in advance to support production requirements.
- Maintain FIFO/FEFO and batch/lot traceability from material receipt through production.
- Ensure all GRNs, issues, transfers, and returns are accurately recorded in the ERP/WMS on the same day.
- Conduct cycle counts and physical stock takes, investigate discrepancies, and maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Perform and support weighbridge reconciliation for copper cathodes and scrap and report stock variances.
- Monitor stock levels and identify shortages, excess, damaged, obsolete, or slow-moving materials.
- Maintain high standards of 5S, housekeeping, warehouse security, and HSE, including safe use of forklifts, cranes, lifting equipment, and PPE.
- Prepare daily stock and material movement reports and coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Logistics, QC, and Finance.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse/Inventory Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–6 years of experience as a Warehouse Keeper, Storekeeper, or Inventory Controller.
- Experience in metals, manufacturing, or heavy industry is preferred.
- Experience handling high-value raw materials, heavy/coiled products, and weighbridge reconciliation is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of inventory control, FIFO/FEFO, cycle counting, and stock reconciliation.
- Proficiency in ERP/WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, integrity, and communication skills.
- Forklift/crane certification is an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and extended hours when required.
