WOSOOL Transportation & Logistics provides integrated logistics services, including road transportation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, warehousing, and yard operations. We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead our transportation department and improve fleet performance, service reliability, and operational efficiency.
About the Role
The Transport Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of trucks, trailers, drivers, dispatch teams, and subcontracted transportation.
This is a hands-on leadership position focused on safe and timely transport execution, fleet utilization, diesel control, maintenance coordination, trip profitability, and accurate trip closure. The successful candidate must be able to build disciplined workflows, manage a multicultural workforce, and resolve operational problems without compromising safety or service quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transport Planning & Daily Execution
Manage daily transportation requests, truck allocations, driver assignments, and dispatch schedules. Match vehicle type, capacity, and equipment to cargo requirements and agreed delivery commitments.
Coordinate with the Operations Department to confirm transport requirements and execution readiness. Monitor trips through GPS and dispatch systems, address delays, and arrange replacement capacity when necessary. Improve route planning, return-load opportunities, and vehicle utilization while reducing unnecessary empty movements.
2. Driver & Dispatch Team Management
Lead transport supervisors, dispatchers, coordinators, and drivers. Assign responsibilities, organize work schedules, monitor attendance and performance, and ensure effective communication throughout each trip.
Coordinate driver onboarding, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary matters with Human Resources. Promote safe driving, proper vehicle care, customer service, and compliance with approved operating procedures.
3. Diesel, Trip Expenses & Cost Control
Establish and enforce a documented diesel-control workflow covering authorization, consumption monitoring, transaction review, exception investigation, and daily closure.
Reconcile fuel transactions against vehicle movements, odometer readings, routes, and approved consumption benchmarks. Investigate unusual consumption, repeated refueling, unauthorized transactions, and suspected fuel misuse.
Review trip allowances, advances, subcontractor costs, and other transport expenses with Accounts. Monitor cost per trip, cost per kilometer, and profitability by truck, route, and customer.
4. Fleet Readiness & Maintenance Coordination
Coordinate with the Workshop Department to maintain vehicle availability through preventive maintenance, inspections, timely repairs, and breakdown response.
Monitor recurring defects, tire usage, maintenance costs, and vehicle downtime. Ensure that safety-critical defects are resolved before dispatch and that vehicle-condition records remain accurate and up to date.
5. Transport Compliance, Safety & Incident Management
Coordinate with Administrative Affairs and Government Relations to maintain valid vehicle documents, insurance, inspections, operating permits, and driver documentation.
Maintain practical knowledge of applicable Transport General Authority requirements and ensure that transport activities follow the company’s compliance procedures. TGA
Monitor loading practices, cargo securing, and vehicle suitability. Investigate accidents, cargo damage, traffic violations, and operational incidents with the relevant departments, and follow corrective actions through to closure.
6. Subcontractor & Capacity Management
Manage approved external transport providers to cover peak demand and specialized requirements. Verify vehicle suitability, documentation, service quality, and agreed rates before assigning work.
Evaluate subcontractor performance and support Commercial with transport feasibility and cost estimates. Obtain required approvals before committing to additional costs or changing commercial terms.
7. Trip Closure, Reporting & Department Development
Ensure every trip has a complete record, including dispatch details, actual movements, proof of delivery, waiting-time evidence, approved additional charges, and expense documentation.
Submit completed trip documents promptly to Operations and Accounts. Maintain daily reports covering available, deployed, idle, and workshop vehicles; delayed trips; fuel exceptions; incidents; and outstanding trip closures.
Develop standard operating procedures, improve system usage, and implement corrective actions based on performance results.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven management experience in commercial road transportation and fleet operations within Saudi Arabia.
- Demonstrated experience managing trucks, trailers, drivers, dispatch teams, and subcontracted transport.
- Practical experience in diesel control, transport costing, maintenance coordination, and operational reporting.
Required Skills
Strong leadership, planning, dispatch coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze GPS data, fuel transactions, vehicle utilization, and trip costs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and transport-management or ERP systems is essential. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with customers, drivers, workshop teams, and management in a multicultural environment. Professional working proficiency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
Experience in container transportation, port movements, cross-border transport, project cargo, refrigerated transport, or dangerous-goods operations. Experience establishing transport workflows or improving an underperforming fleet operation is highly desirable.

- On-time pickup and delivery, and successful fulfillment of confirmed transport requests.
- Fleet availability, utilization, empty-running percentage, and vehicle downtime.
- Fuel-consumption variance and timely resolution of abnormal transactions.
- Transport cost and profitability by trip, truck, route, and customer.
- Safety performance, preventive-maintenance compliance, and corrective-action closure.
- Timely trip closure and completeness of proof-of-delivery and expense records.
