The Civil Site Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing all civil construction activities associated with electrical substation projects, including 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, and distribution substations, while ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, authority regulations, quality standards, and HSE requirements. Reporting to the Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Civil Engineer, the role involves the day-to-day supervision of civil works such as control buildings, GIS buildings, transformer and reactor foundations, equipment plinths, cable trenches, cable basements, oil containment bunds, drainage systems, roads, boundary walls, earthing pits, duct banks, firefighting structures, gantry foundations, and other associated infrastructure. The Civil Site Engineer coordinates with subcontractors, surveyors, consultants, QA/QC personnel, HSE teams, and electrical and mechanical disciplines to ensure smooth project execution and effective interface management. Key responsibilities include monitoring excavation, backfilling, compaction, reinforcement, formwork, embedment installation, concrete pouring, curing activities, and utility works while ensuring compliance with approved Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). The role also includes preparing daily and weekly work plans, monitoring progress against project schedules, identifying delays, supporting recovery plans, coordinating material deliveries, and ensuring the availability of manpower and equipment. The Civil Site Engineer is responsible for conducting quality inspections, managing inspection requests, maintaining site records, monitoring material compliance, supporting consultant approvals, addressing NCRs, and preparing as-built documentation. In addition, the position requires enforcing HSE procedures through toolbox talks, monitoring safe excavation practices, ensuring proper use of PPE, coordinating lifting operations, and maintaining compliance with UAE safety regulations. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, heavy equipment foundations, cable trench construction, drainage systems, waterproofing, soil improvement, and UAE substation authority requirements, with the ability to interpret IFC and shop drawings and resolve site-related technical challenges. Through effective coordination, quality control, safety management, and progress monitoring, the Civil Site Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the timely and successful delivery of substation projects from mobilization through commissioning, handover, and project closeout.
