Database Reliability Engineer
Proprietary Trading | Amsterdam | up to € 110K + excellent bonus scheme
Every trade, every risk calculation and every PnL report starts with data that has to be there, instantly and without fail. My client, a fast-growing derivatives trading firm in the heart of Amsterdam.
You won't inherit a mature team with fixed processes. You'll define the discipline yourself. The firm is investing in a modern data organisation, and reliable, well-managed databases sit at the core of it. You'll work closely with a Data Platform Engineer, report directly to the Head of Data, and have a real voice in where the data platform goes next.
Your mission
- Set the standard for how every PostgreSQL database in the firm is backed up, restored, secured and monitored, and prove it works under regulatory scrutiny.
- Keep high-volume, latency-sensitive workloads fast as the firm builds more on them, from query plans to replication and failover.
- Build a self-service PostgreSQL platform that development teams can rely on without needing a database expert in the room.
- Become the go-to advisor on database design, coaching engineers and shaping the firm's cloud direction.
You'll thrive here if you have
- Several years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in production, with a solid grasp of how the engine works under the hood.
- A track record of designing recovery strategies and actually testing them, not just writing them down.
- A habit of automating everything: infrastructure as code, Git and CI/CD are second nature.
- The confidence to own a domain on your own, and the communication skills to explain database trade-offs to developers, quants and traders alike.
Extra points for: experience with time-series data, Kubernetes, Google Cloud, Redis or MongoDB, or a background in financial services or another regulated environment.
What's in it for you
A base salary of €110K plus a very generous bonus scheme, a role where you build something lasting from day one, and an informal, international culture with short decision lines and lots of autonomy.
