MEP Project Engineer
Role Description
The MEP Project Engineer role is a full-time, site-based position. The MEP Project Engineer will support the planning, coordination, execution, testing, and handover of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works for building and infrastructure projects. The role will ensure that MEP installations are delivered in line with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, quality requirements, and applicable safety standards.
Responsibilities include reviewing MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements; identifying clashes, omissions, and constructability issues; and coordinating technical resolutions with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the site project team. The MEP Project Engineer will monitor site progress, inspect works, verify material compliance, and support testing, commissioning, snagging, and final handover activities.
The role involves close coordination among mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and life-safety, ELV, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines. The MEP Project Engineer will provide technical input to the Project Manager, support procurement and planning activities, prepare progress reports and technical trackers, and contribute to the timely resolution of site issues and design coordination matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in MEP engineering, site supervision, construction, fit-out, or building-services projects.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, water supply, firefighting, electrical distribution, lighting, power, and ELV systems.
- Demonstrated ability to read and coordinate MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, shop drawings, technical submittals, and method statements.
- Experience coordinating MEP works with civil, structural, architectural, and specialist contractors on active construction sites.
- Working knowledge of site installation practices, quality-control requirements, testing, commissioning, snagging, and project handover procedures.
- Ability to identify coordination clashes, construction constraints, technical risks, and practical solutions before they affect programme or quality.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project-documentation tools; familiarity with Revit/BIM coordination is an advantage.
- Knowledge of relevant international and local MEP codes, standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
