Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Laboratory Technician role based in Basra. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, preparing and processing samples, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment according to established protocols. Daily activities include adhering to quality control procedures, documenting test results accurately, and reporting any irregularities or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. The role involves collaborating with medical staff to support diagnostic services, following safety and infection control standards, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. The Laboratory Technician is expected to contribute to continuous improvement in laboratory workflows and support training and orientation for new team members when needed.
Qualifications
* Candidates should possess strong laboratory skills and practical experience working as laboratory technicians in clinical or diagnostic settings.
* Candidates should possess proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including routine calibration and basic troubleshooting.
* Candidates should possess applied quality control skills, including adherence to standard operating procedures and verification of test accuracy.
* Candidates should possess solid analytical skills for interpreting test results, identifying discrepancies, and supporting clinical decision-making.
* Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
* Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, infection control practices, and relevant national regulations.
* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary medical teams.
* Previous experience in emergency or home healthcare laboratory settings is beneficial.
* Basic computer literacy for entering and managing laboratory data in digital systems.
