Your impact
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Gas Farm Specialist to oversee the construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of gas distribution networks, pressure regulating stations, gas metering facilities, valve stations, gas farms, and associated utility infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all site activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, project specifications, international standards, quality requirements, health and safety regulations, and contractual obligations
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all construction activities associated with gas farms, gas distribution networks, pressure regulating stations, gas metering facilities, valve stations, and related infrastructure works.
- Ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes and standards, and local authority regulations.
- Review and assess contractor submissions including work plans, method statements, risk assessments, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), shop drawings, material submittals, and technical reports.
- Monitor excavation, trenching, pipe laying, welding, jointing, coating, testing, and backfilling activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality standards.
- Supervise the installation of civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, SCADA, and control systems associated with gas facilities and distribution networks.
- Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, NDT activities, and testing records to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Witness and monitor hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, pressure testing, leak testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, utility authorities, consultants, and project stakeholders to facilitate approvals, inspections, interfaces, and project execution.
- Monitor construction progress against approved schedules, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective and recovery measures.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with project quality requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Verify material compliance, certifications, and inspection records while managing non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of approved quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout project execution.
- Enforce compliance with project HSE policies, HCIS requirements, permit-to-work systems, and approved risk assessments and method statements.
- Identify unsafe conditions and practices, conduct incident investigations, recommend corrective actions, and stop unsafe work when necessary.
- Participate in progress meetings, technical reviews, coordination meetings, and stakeholder workshops as required.
- Review operation and maintenance manuals, commissioning reports, and handover documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Verify completion of punch-list items, endorse as-built documentation, and support final acceptance, commissioning, and handover of gas facilities to the client.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams to ensure successful delivery of gas infrastructure projects in accordance with Jacobs' safety, quality, and operational excellence standards.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience in the construction and supervision of gas distribution, transmission, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in gas network and gas station construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience with natural gas distribution systems, LPG storage tanks, gas pressure reduction stations, gas farms, storage facilities, pipeline testing, commissioning, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of HDPE pipelines, gas metering stations, pressure regulating stations, valve chambers, SCADA systems, and gas control systems.
- Experience working within Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desirable, with familiarity in local utility authority regulations, approval processes, and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of construction supervision, quality assurance, commissioning processes, and health, safety, and environmental requirements applicable to gas infrastructure projects.
