Position: Estimation Manager – Joinery & Wooden Doors
Position Overview:
As an Estimation Manager - Joinery & Wooden Doors at UNICO MEA, you will be responsible for managing the estimation and tendering process for joinery and wooden door projects, ensuring accurate quantity take-offs, cost calculations, pricing, and timely submission of competitive and commercially viable tenders.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and oversee the preparation of estimates and commercial proposals for joinery and wooden door projects.
· Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements to identify scope and pricing requirements.
· Prepare accurate quantity take-offs for joinery, wooden doors, frames, finishes, ironmongery, and related items.
· Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify materials, finishes, construction methods, and technical requirements.
· Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and ensure competitive pricing.
· Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, manufacturing, finishing, installation, logistics, and other project-related costs.
· Coordinate with the design, technical, procurement, production, and project teams to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
· Identify exclusions, qualifications, deviations, assumptions, and commercial risks within tender documents.
· Review and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations to achieve optimum project costing.
· Prepare tender summaries, comparison sheets, cost breakdowns, and commercial submissions for management review.
· Monitor tender deadlines and ensure timely submission of quotations and commercial proposals.
· Participate in tender clarification meetings and respond to technical and commercial queries.
· Maintain and develop a database of material, labor, manufacturing, and installation costs for future estimates.
· Support the commercial team during negotiations, variations, and post-tender clarifications when required.
Required Skills:
· Strong knowledge of joinery, wooden doors, frames, finishes, and interior fit-out works.
· Strong understanding of joinery manufacturing processes, materials, finishes, and installation methods.
· Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
· Strong knowledge of quantity take-off, costing, pricing, and tender preparation.
· Good understanding of material, labor, manufacturing, installation, and logistics costs.
· Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Office.
· Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
Qualifications:
· Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Interior Design, or a related field.
· 7 to 10 years of experience in estimation and tendering, preferably within joinery, wooden doors, or interior fit-out projects.
· Proven experience managing estimates and tenders for large-scale joinery and wooden door projects.
· Experience working with contractors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal technical and production teams.
· U.A.E. and GCC project experience is an advantage.
· Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and opportunities within tenders.
· A team player, organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet demanding project and tender deadlines.
