DescriptionJOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
Oversee the planning, coordination, execution, testing, startup, performance verification, and handover of HVAC pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for new-build offshore jack-up drilling rigs, covering
accommodation, machinery, technical, hazardous area, and ventilation systems, to achieve safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient HVAC system operation, operational readiness, project delivery objectives, and
successful client acceptance in accordance with project specifications, classification society requirements, and offshore regulatory standards.
Key AccountabilitiesLead and oversee the pre-commissioning, commissioning, functional testing, startup, and performance verification of HVAC systems, including accommodation, engine room, technical spaces, switchgear rooms, UPS
rooms, and hazardous area ventilation systems, to ensure operational readiness and compliance with project requirements.
Develop, implement, and control HVAC commissioning procedures, inspection checklists, test packages, and commissioning schedules to ensure systematic execution, quality compliance, and timely achievement of
project milestones.
Oversee the inspection, testing, calibration, and operational validation of AHUs, chillers, compressors, fans, blowers, dampers, louvers, VFDs, and HVAC control systems to ensure reliable performance and design
compliance.
Manage the integration and functional verification of HVAC automation systems, control panels, monitoring systems, interlocks, and fire and gas interfaces to ensure seamless operation and system reliability.
Coordinate commissioning activities with engineering, construction, QA/QC personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure system readiness, efficient issue resolution, and successful
execution of commissioning activities.
Lead engagements with classification societies, regulatory authorities, and client representatives during inspections, testing, audits, and approvals to secure compliance certification and stakeholder acceptance.
Ensure all HVAC commissioning activities adhere to HSE requirements, permit-to-work processes, hazardous area regulations, SOLAS, IMO, and classification society standards to maintain a safe and compliant
commissioning environment.
Lead troubleshooting, defect identification, punch-list management, corrective actions, and performance optimization activities to achieve timely system completion and commissioning objectives.
Oversee the preparation and control of commissioning dossiers, test records, inspection reports, ITRs, mechanical completion documentation, RFCC/RFOC certificates, and acceptance records to ensure documentation
accuracy and project closeout readiness.
Direct FAT, SAT, final acceptance testing, system turnover, as-built documentation, and handover activities to ensure successful client acceptance and seamless transition of HVAC systems to operations.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education
- bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
- * Omega 365 PIMS knowledge will benefit.
Experience
- * 12–15 years experience in HVAC, Chiller, Refrigeration and Ventilations systems commissioning on new build offshore rigs. (Jack-up Rig)
- Proven track record in senior supervisory or superintendent-level commissioning roles.
Languages
- Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English.
