Position Summary
This position will provide leadership with insights into financial planning, budgeting, and KPI reporting while overseeing the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in compliance with statutory and accounting standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Oversees the preparation of the executive summary for finance leadership review.
- Oversees the budget liaison with internal stakeholders across the college who engage in the budgeting process and guide the team on budget management and financial planning.
- Guides developing and enhancing various templates or reports for reporting and reconciliations.
- Oversees the in-depth analysis of budget variances throughout the year, utilizing comprehensive data to ensure forecasts are updated.
- Identifies opportunities for cost optimization and advises leadership on potential adjustments, ensuring effective administration and reporting of approved budgets.
- Oversees the monthly reconciliation against the budget and directs the internal team.
- Monitors the revenue cycle activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversees all accounting-related transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies, financial regulations, and accounting standards (US GAAP). Reviews and approves reclassification/correction entries.
- Oversees the closing of accounting entries on a monthly and annual basis, ensuring completion of documentation for academic, research, and grants accounts.
- Responsible for overseeing financial reports' preparation and accurate presentation, including financial statements, quarterly reports, grants management reports, and research packages.
- Leads fiscal year-end and calendar year-end audit processes, working closely with internal and external auditors to provide necessary information.
- Manages all intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manages the financial aspects of grants management, including grant budgeting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Ensures accurate records are maintained for all fixed assets, including acquisitions, tagging, disposals, and depreciation.
- Leverages automation efforts relevant to the work area to streamline processes and ensure compliance.
- Oversees the monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reporting of financial indicators.
- Oversees the updates and maintenance of finance policies and procedures and maintains liaison with all stakeholders on financial matters, providing timely updates and addressing queries.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration with 11 - 12 years of related experience.
Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA-USA, or similar are preferred.
Prior experience in research, medical, or educational fields is highly desirable.
