Nordic Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to Läkare utan gränser (MSF)
Ready to shape the future of learning?
Läkare utan gränser / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Sweden is looking for a proactive and strategic Nordic Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to build and lead our domestic L&D function across all four Nordic offices.
In this role, you won't just manage training programs, you will establish a coordinated, evidence-based approach to capability building for our office staff in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. Joining the Swedish HR department, you get high autonomy, direct budget responsibility, and a genuine opportunity to bridge strategic goals with impactful adult learning.
If you bring a strong foundation in adult learning theory (such as the 70-20-10 model), love combining high-level strategy with hands-on learning design, and know how to influence stakeholders without formal authority to empower the workforce behind MSF’s social mission, this is the role for you!
Main responsibilities
Strategy & Annual Cycle: Establish and drive a Nordic L&D strategy and annual learning cycle for domestic staff, aligning capability development with organizational priorities.
Learning Architecture & Design: Commission, design, and deliver evidence-based adult learning solutions, embedding the 70-20-10 framework into daily work and HR processes.
HR & Leadership Advisory: Guide unit managers and coach local Nordic HR partners on identifying capability needs, translating organizational challenges into learning priorities, and fostering a continuous learning culture.
Evaluation & Impact: Measure learning transfer, behavior change, and long-term impact on organizational performance, utilizing data and feedback to refine future priorities.
Budget & Stakeholder Management: Oversee and manage the L&D budget, partner with internal subject matter experts, and establish a network of external training providers.
Who we are looking for
A strong commitment to MSF principles and humanitarian values.
Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in L&D, Talent Development, Organizational Development, or similar specialist/advisory roles.
Academic degree in L&D, HR, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of L&D best practices, adult learning theory, cognitive principles, and the 70-20-10 experiential learning framework.
Proven track record in managing the full learning cycle (needs analysis, strategy design, delivery, learning transfer, and impact evaluation).
Excellent consulting, advisory, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without formal authority in a matrix/multi-country environment.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Proficiency in common IT tools.
Flexibility to travel occasionally to other Nordic offices.
A valid work permit/visa to work in Sweden.
To be successful in this role, you are a proactive, self-driven, and collaborative professional who is comfortable operating with ambiguity. You combine analytical thinking with a results-oriented mindset, know how to prioritize learning investments constructively, and balance long-term strategic focus with hands-on execution when required.
Desirable qualifications:
Experience from non-profit, humanitarian organizations.
Proficiency in Swedish or another Nordic language.
Experience with Learning Technologies (LMS, LXP, Captivate, Rise) and blended learning approaches.
Competency mapping, skills gap analysis, and leadership development experience.
The social environment at MSF Sweden
As an employee at MSF Sweden, you will be part of a global movement providing medical aid and humanitarian care. We work in an international, informal, and welcoming environment. All of us working for MSF Sweden are deeply committed to our common goal: saving lives and alleviating suffering.
We are a values-based organization, something that is strongly felt whether you work in a project, as a volunteer, or in the office. We work in teams, which means taking responsibility, trusting one another, and actively giving and receiving feedback. We are easygoing and never hesitate to help when needed. We want you to feel respected for who you are. Working at MSF gives you the opportunity to take initiative, learn, and grow, both individually and as a team. Effective communication, internally between offices and projects, and externally to the world, is essential to our lifesaving mission.
