About the Role
Manage the Legal function across DP World Egypt, providing strategic, commercially focused legal advice to senior leadership and ensuring effective management of legal, regulatory and governance matters across the business. The role supports key business decisions and strategic initiatives, protects DP World’s interests and manages material legal risks, while ensuring strong governance and compliance with applicable laws and Group requirements. Moreover, responsible for building an effective in-house Legal function, developing team capability, managing external legal support and maintaining strong relationships with Regional and Group Legal, regulators, government authorities and other key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the Legal function across DP World Egypt, setting clear priorities, ways of working and service standards to ensure effective and consistent legal support across the businesses.

Provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice to Egypt leadership on key business, corporate, commercial, regulatory and governance matters, supporting sound and informed business decisions.

Manage the legal aspects of key strategic initiatives and transactions, including business development opportunities, investments, concessions, joint ventures, restructuring and other significant business projects.

Oversee material contracts and commercial agreements, providing guidance on negotiation strategy, key contractual terms, risk allocation and deviations, and ensuring appropriate review and approval in line with the Delegation of Authority.

Oversee corporate governance and company secretarial matters across Egypt entities, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and maintaining appropriate legal policies, procedures and controls.

Lead the management of significant legal and regulatory matters, including disputes, litigation, claims and investigations, ensuring risks are properly assessed, managed and escalated where required.

Maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulators, government authorities, external legal advisers and business counterparties, representing DP World’s legal interests as appropriate.

Manage external legal counsel and associated costs, ensuring the appropriate use of external expertise, effective management of scope and fees, and continued development of in-house capability where appropriate.

Lead and develop the in-house Legal team, ensuring clear responsibilities, effective performance management, capability development, succession planning and appropriate allocation of resources against business priorities.

Work closely with Regional and Group Legal and other key functions to ensure alignment on significant legal matters, consistent application of legal standards and timely escalation of material risks and issues.
Key Requirements:
Qualification and Certificates:
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B. or equivalent).
- Admission to the Egyptian Bar or equivalent relevant professional legal qualification required. Postgraduate legal/business qualification (e.g., LL.M.) preferred.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Indicative 15 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years in senior legal leadership/head-of-function or equivalent responsibility.
- Strong corporate/commercial, contracts and governance experience in a complex multi-entity environment; multinational, ports, logistics, infrastructure or similar operational-sector exposure preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing disputes, material legal risk and external counsel, and advising executive stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of Egyptian corporate/commercial law, contracting, governance, regulatory requirements and dispute management, with awareness of relevant regional/international business requirements.
Skills and Abilities:
- Fluent in English Language skills
