Role Description The General Accountant – Retail Background will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities for the company’s retail operations from the on-site office in Cairo, Egypt. This full-time role includes recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, overseeing cash and sales reports, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The position involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, monitoring expenses and revenues, and ensuring accurate financial reporting aligned with company policies and applicable standards. The General Accountant will collaborate with store management and finance colleagues to analyze financial performance, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide data for management decision-making. Additional responsibilities include maintaining proper documentation, assisting with audits, and identifying opportunities to improve accounting and reporting workflows.
Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid skills in Journal Entries (Accounting) to record daily transactions, adjustments, and accruals accurately.
- Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in Finance to understand cash flows, budgeting, and cost control within a retail environment.
- Candidates should possess experience in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Candidates should possess capabilities in Financial Reporting to compile periodic reports, ensure data integrity, and support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an advantage.
- Prior accounting experience in retail or multi-store operations, with familiarity in POS systems and inventory-related accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, with attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on-site in Cairo, Egypt, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.
