The Draftsman will be responsible for preparing, updating, and managing technical drawings for the port construction project, ensuring drawings accurately reflect design intent, approved changes, and as-built conditions to support engineering, construction, and reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and update construction drawings (civil, structural, marine/port works) using CAD software based on engineer/design instructions.
- Produce shop drawings and working drawings for site execution, ensuring compliance with approved design and specifications.
- Update drawings to reflect approved variations, site instructions, and change orders, maintaining accurate revision control.
- Prepare and maintain as-built drawings based on site measurements and actual executed works.
- Update and issue drawings to support inspection requests and Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) submissions, ensuring measured/marked-up drawings accurately reflect quantities and work executed for certification.
- Coordinate with engineers, the Construction Manager, and site supervisors to ensure drawings match site conditions and construction sequencing.
- Maintain an organized drawing register/log, tracking drawing status, revisions, and issue/approval dates.
- Support the preparation of technical submittals, drawing packages, and documentation for client/consultant review and approval.
- Assist in quantity extraction and take-offs from drawings to support planning and cost control functions.
- Ensure all drawings follow project drafting standards, layer conventions, and company/client templates.
- Archive and back up drawing files in accordance with project document control procedures.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a draftsman on construction projects (adjust threshold as required).
- Experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience producing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and drawing revisions in a live construction environment.
- Experience coordinating drawing updates directly with site/construction teams.
Education & Technical Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural Drafting, Civil Engineering, or related technical field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); familiarity with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or BIM tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of civil/structural drawing conventions, symbols, and standards.
- Fluency in French or English.
