Role Description The Chief Officer AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply) is a full-time, on-site position based in Ra’s Gharib, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of deck and navigation activities on an AHTS vessel. Daily tasks include planning and supervising anchor handling and towing operations, overseeing deck crew, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and relevant maritime regulations. The Chief Officer monitors vessel stability and cargo operations, maintains navigational watch, and supports the Master in voyage planning and emergency preparedness. The role includes completing operational documentation, coordinating with clients and offshore installations, and ensuring that all safety and environmental policies are strictly followed. The Chief Officer also contributes to crew training, performance feedback, and the continuous improvement of vessel operations.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of offshore anchor handling, towing, and supply operations, including safe working practices on AHTS vessels.
* Proficiency in navigation, ship handling, COLREGs, and use of modern bridge equipment and electronic charts.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead deck crew, manage workloads, and maintain effective communication across multicultural teams.
* Solid understanding of maritime safety management systems, emergency procedures, risk assessment, and environmental protection standards.
* Relevant offshore and AHTS experience in a Chief Officer or senior officer capacity, preferably in similar operating areas.
* Valid STCW-compliant Chief Mate or equivalent certification, with all mandatory safety and offshore training up to date.
* Good command of written and spoken English and strong documentation skills for logs, reports, and operational records.
* Ability to work in a rotational offshore schedule, adapt to changing operational demands, and maintain focus under pressure.
