Job Purpose
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient and safe storage, handling and distribution of goods.
The role is responsible for managing inventory, supervising warehouse staff and ensuring that all activities comply with safety and regulatory standards. The Warehouse Manager coordinates the receiving, storing and shipping of products while optimising warehouse layout and ensuring accurate stock levels to meet demand.
The role also involves managing order fulfilment, monitoring performance metrics and implementing strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities
Policies & Procedures
- Implement established warehouse policies and procedures and ensure compliance with wider company policies.
Warehouse Supervision Activities
- Oversee inventory control to ensure stock levels are maintained and accurate.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure product accuracy.
- Implement systems to track and manage inventory, reducing errors and losses.
- Hire, train and manage warehouse staff, including loaders, clerks and supervisors.
- Assign tasks and monitor employee performance to ensure efficiency.
- Ensure that all staff follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure timely picking, packing and shipping of orders to meet customer demand.
- Monitor order accuracy to prevent shipping errors or delays.
- Plan and optimise the warehouse layout to maximise space and efficiency.
- Ensure proper storage methods are used to prevent damage or loss of products.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and receiving.
- Manage relationships with carriers, suppliers and third-party logistics companies.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including order accuracy, shipping times and inventory turnover.
- Oversee the warehouse budget, including labour, equipment and operational costs.
- Work with customer service teams to resolve order issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform ad-hoc and other duties related to the role as assigned by the Direct Manager.
Reports
- Prepare and submit periodic reports to direct management relating to warehouse activities and any issues that may arise.
- Prepare and submit inventory reports, IN/OUT status reports, dead stock reports, goods age reports, consumption reports and manpower status reports to the Head of Operations.
Experience
- Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in the same or related field.
- Excellent experience in warehousing.
