About the RoleAn established international school in Jordan is seeking an experienced and highly motivated University & Careers Counsellor to guide students through university planning, career exploration, and the international university admissions process.
The successful candidate will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to provide comprehensive guidance on university pathways and ensure students are well prepared for admission to leading universities in Jordan and internationally.
Key Responsibilities Provide individual university and careers counselling to students, helping them identify suitable academic and career pathways.
* Guide students through the university application process, including research, applications, personal statements, recommendation letters, interviews, and admissions requirements.
* Advise students and families on university options across the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Jordan, and other international destinations.
* Provide expert guidance on AP and international curriculum pathways*, including subject selection and its impact on university admissions.
* Support students with understanding admission requirements, standardized testing, scholarships, financial considerations, and application timelines.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with universities and admissions representatives.
* Organize university fairs, information sessions, workshops, and visits for students and parents.
* Maintain accurate records of student applications, offers, admissions outcomes, and university destinations.
* Work collaboratively with academic leadership, teachers, and pastoral teams to support students' academic and career development.
* Keep up to date with changes in international university admissions policies, requirements, and curriculum recognition.
* Support students in developing realistic and well-informed higher education plans based on their academic profile, interests, and future goals.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
* Proven experience in university counselling, college admissions, careers counselling, or a related role, preferably within an international school.
* Strong knowledge and practical experience with AP and international curricula, including university recognition and admissions pathways.
* Excellent understanding of UK and US university admissions systems*; knowledge of Canadian and European systems is an advantage.
* Experience supporting students applying to competitive universities internationally.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and counselling skills.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and senior leadership.
* High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Experience working with AP and/or IGCSE/A-Level students in an international school environment will be highly valued.
