Smart Campus Architect
Company: DXC Technology
Role Overview
DXC Technology is seeking a Smart Campus Architect to lead the architecture and integration of intelligent-building technologies within a large-scale enterprise transformation programme.
The role will own the architecture for Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Building Management Systems (BMS), and physical security platforms. You will design how these technologies connect across multiple buildings and integrate with enterprise platforms to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable operations.
Working within a central Design Authority, you will define technical standards, guide specialist vendors and engineers, and govern architectural quality from design through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the reference architecture for smart-campus and intelligent-building technologies, including BMS, ELV, access control, CCTV, audiovisual systems, and IoT.
- Define campus technology topology, integration patterns, protocols, data flows, and security boundaries.
- Design the integration of building systems into enterprise data platforms and integration services.
- Establish architectural standards and governance for smart-building technologies.
- Define edge and IoT connectivity, gateway architectures, and data-ingestion patterns.
- Ensure designs address security, resilience, scalability, interoperability, and maintainability.
- Govern operational technology and information technology (OT–IT) convergence.
- Collaborate with enterprise and solution architects to align building technologies with the wider architecture.
- Evaluate platforms and recommend solutions that support operational efficiency and business objectives.
- Guide specialist vendors and engineers, reviewing specifications, designs, and implementation quality.
- Resolve technical issues, manage architectural risks, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Required Technical Expertise
- Smart-campus and intelligent-building architecture across ELV, IoT, BMS, and connected-building platforms.
- Hands-on experience with BMS platforms such as Niagara, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, or Siemens.
- Building automation protocols, including BACnet and Modbus.
- Integration of BMS, access control, CCTV, audiovisual systems, and sensors.
- Access control and physical security architecture, including centralised and distributed designs and biometric integration.
- IoT sensors, gateways, platforms, and edge connectivity.
- Enterprise integration and building-data ingestion.
- Security, resilience, and scalability in converged OT–IT environments.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Typically 7+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience with BMS platforms.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in architecture, design, or integration of intelligent-building systems.
- Experience with at least two of the following: access control, HVAC controls, fire systems, CCTV, or IoT and sensor deployments.
- Strong problem-solving, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant architecture, smart-building, or IoT certification.
- Fluent English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
- ELV, BMS, or IoT vendor certifications.
- Cloud certification.
- Arabic language skills.
Key Competencies
- Systems thinking and architectural decision-making.
- Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders.
- Structured problem-solving across complex requirements.
- Collaboration within multidisciplinary, multi-vendor teams.
- Vendor management, design assurance, and quality governance.
