The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Developer to design, develop, enhance, integrate, test, and support SAP applications using ABAP and related SAP technologies.
The ideal candidate will combine strong ABAP development expertise with a deep understanding of SAP business processes, clean-code practices, integration technologies, performance optimization, and enterprise application architecture. The role will contribute to SAP S/4HANA transformation, custom development, system enhancements, integrations, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- * Design, develop, enhance, and maintain SAP applications using ABAP.
- Develop high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and secure ABAP solutions.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions.
- Work closely with functional consultants, business analysts, solution architects, and business stakeholders.
- Develop technical specifications based on functional requirements and solution designs.
- Create and maintain ABAP reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows, and other custom developments.
- Develop classical and interactive reports using appropriate ABAP programming techniques.
- Develop ALV reports and optimized data-retrieval solutions.
- Design and develop custom ABAP objects in accordance with SAP development standards.
- Develop and maintain ABAP Objects using object-oriented programming principles.
- Develop and enhance user exits, customer exits, BAdIs, enhancement points, and enhancement frameworks.
- Develop and maintain function modules, classes, methods, interfaces, and reusable technical components.
- Develop database procedures and optimized data-access solutions where appropriate.
- Work with SAP HANA and HANA-optimized development approaches.
- Develop CDS views and other modern data models for SAP S/4HANA environments.

- Develop and maintain SAP Fiori and SAPUI5 backend services where required.

- Develop workflow-related ABAP components, business objects, events, and supporting logic where applicable.
- Develop technical solutions for SAP modules including Finance, Controlling, Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, Production Planning, Human Capital Management, and other business areas.
- Collaborate with functional teams to understand end-to-end business processes and technical dependencies.
- Review existing custom code and identify opportunities for simplification, modernization, and performance improvement.
- Conduct technical impact assessments for SAP upgrades, enhancement packages, S/4HANA migrations, and system changes.
- Remediate custom code to support SAP S/4HANA and clean-core principles.
- Analyze legacy ABAP code and recommend modernization approaches.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards, naming conventions, security practices, and coding guidelines.
- Conduct unit testing and support integration, regression, system, and user-acceptance testing.
- Prepare technical test cases, test data, and supporting documentation.
- Investigate application defects and production incidents and implement appropriate fixes.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring technical issues and system failures.
- Troubleshoot ABAP dumps, performance issues, database errors, authorization-related problems, and application defects.
- Analyze SAP system logs, runtime errors, traces, and performance information to identify technical problems.
- Optimize ABAP programs, database access, queries, joins, loops, and processing logic.

- Work with SAP Basis and infrastructure teams to diagnose system-level performance and technical issues.
- Support transport management and controlled movement of development objects across SAP environments.
- Ensure development activities comply with change-management, release-management, and deployment procedures.
- Maintain appropriate versioning, technical documentation, and development records.
- Participate in SAP implementation, rollout, upgrade, migration, and transformation projects.
- Support SAP S/4HANA conversion and technical remediation initiatives.
- Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
- Evaluate new SAP technologies and recommend appropriate development approaches.
- Support SAP cloud and hybrid environments where applicable.

- Ensure ABAP developments follow appropriate security, authorization, data-protection, and compliance requirements.

- Work with cybersecurity and SAP security teams where application-level controls are required.
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and application-resilience requirements for critical SAP solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level ABAP developers.
- Review technical work produced by other developers and provide constructive recommendations.
- Contribute to development standards, technical knowledge bases, and internal SAP documentation.
- Coordinate with offshore, nearshore, and distributed development teams where applicable.
- Manage multiple development requests, projects, incidents, priorities, and deadlines.
- Communicate technical risks, dependencies, issues, and recommendations clearly to technical and business stakeholders.

Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate should have strong experience in SAP ABAP development, SAP S/4HANA, enterprise application development, SAP integrations, and technical SAP implementation or support, preferably within a complex multinational or business-critical SAP environment.
