We seek a hands-on senior engine builder qualified to perform major service and valve-lash work on a Mercury Racing 1350 QC4V 9.0L twin-turbo V8. Applicants must personally carry out diagnostics, precision mechanical work, and engine assembly.
Required experience and capabilities
• Solid-lash DOHC four-valve engines and finger-follower valvetrains, including accurate valve-lash measurement and adjustment.
• Four-cam timing chains, camshaft timing, and correct timing verification.
• Dry-sump lubrication and twin-turbo systems.
• Compression and leak-down testing, fault diagnosis, and documented interpretation of results.
• Precision engine assembly, component inspection and measurement, clearances, torque procedures, and meticulous service records.
• Strict use of the genuine, serial-number-specific Mercury QC4V service manual for every applicable procedure, specification, tool requirement, and verification step. Generic engine specifications or assumptions must not replace the correct manual.
Responsibilities
• Perform major engine service and valve-lash work on the specified Mercury Racing 1350 QC4V engine.
• Diagnose engine condition and document measurements, findings, work performed, and final checks.
• Assemble and verify engine components to the applicable genuine Mercury QC4V service-manual specifications.
Preferred experience
Mercury Racing QC4V, Ford Coyote/GT500, Mercedes-AMG M177/M178, Ferrari F154, or comparable racing-engine experience.
Marine work
Marine cooling, exhaust, transmission, and sterndrive work require documented marine experience. Motorsport engine-building experience alone does not qualify an applicant to carry out these marine systems tasks.
