Estimator – Construction & Engineering Consultancy

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our construction and engineering consultancy group. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, quantity take-offs, BOQs, tender submissions, and detailed pricing for construction and engineering projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong UAE construction/contracting experience, excellent knowledge of construction costs and market rates, and the ability to analyse drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction and engineering projects.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, scope of work, and contract requirements.
- Conduct accurate quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
- Prepare and review BOQs, pricing schedules, and tender documentation.
- Analyse project specifications and identify scope requirements, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.
- Conduct detailed rate analysis for materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor works, and other project costs.
- Prepare competitive and commercially viable tender prices.
- Compare supplier and subcontractor quotations and negotiate where required to achieve competitive pricing.
- Identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities without compromising project requirements.
- Coordinate with the technical, engineering, procurement, QS, and project teams to clarify scope and pricing requirements.
- Attend site visits and tender clarification meetings where required.
- Prepare tender queries and seek clarification from clients, consultants, and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and update cost databases, supplier rates, subcontractor rates, and market pricing information.
- Assist in preparing variations, change orders, and revised cost estimates.
- Review and assess the commercial impact of design changes and scope variations.
- Support the Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager with cost-related analysis and reporting.
- Ensure all estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within tender deadlines.
- Maintain proper records of estimates, quotations, assumptions, and tender submissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in estimating within construction, contracting, or engineering consultancy.
- UAE construction experience is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, labour costs, subcontractor pricing, and UAE market rates.
- Proven experience in quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and tender pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and project scope.
- Experience handling multiple tenders simultaneously and working under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness.
- Proficiency in Excel and relevant estimating/take-off software.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- UAE driving licence is an advantage.
Preferred Profile
Candidates with experience working for UAE-based construction companies, main contractors, subcontractors, or engineering consultancies and a strong understanding of local construction costs and market conditions will be preferred.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, commercially minded, and technically capable Estimator who can independently manage the estimation process from tender review through to final submission.
