JOB PURPOSE:
GCL is looking to hire a Senior Estimator who is responsible for leading the preparation, review, and submission of accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil, landscaping, and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all bids are technically compliant, commercially competitive, and aligned with client requirements and GCL standards. The Senior Estimator guides junior team members, evaluates risks, and contributes to securing profitable projects through precise cost planning and expert analysis.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct detailed reviews of tender documents including drawings, specifications, BOQs, scope of work, and contractual requirements.
- Interpret client requirements and ensure all technical and commercial conditions are fully understood and addressed in the estimate.
- Lead the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and pricing schedules for civil, softscape, hardscape, and infrastructure works.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations; analyze offers for compliance and accuracy.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, ensuring alignment with project specifications, scope, and cost expectations.
- Prepare tender clarifications, inclusions, exclusions, and value-engineering proposals to optimize cost without compromising quality.
- Conduct site inspections with clients or consultants to gather technical and logistical data required for accurate estimation.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation strategies and cost adjustments as necessary.
- Lead pre-tender and post-tender meetings, providing technical and financial input to management and stakeholders.
- Review estimates prepared by junior estimators and provide guidance, corrections, and mentorship.
- Ensure that tender submissions are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with internal approval processes.
- Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, unit rates, and supplier/vendor lists for future bids. Coordinate with planning, engineering, and procurement teams during tender preparation and project handover.
- Support the Estimation Manager in developing bid strategies, pricing benchmarks, and competitive positioning.
- Comply with the HSE Management System, Project HSE Plans, and procedures.
- Participate in HSE trainings, meetings, inspections, and safety initiatives.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses promptly.
- Support the achievement of project/department HSE KPIs through safe work practices.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:

Minimum Qualification: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum Experience: 9+ years of experience in estimation within civil, landscaping, infrastructure, or construction sectors (GCC experience highly preferred).
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Job Specific: Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong experience using estimation software such as CCS (Candy) or similar tools. Solid understanding of civil construction, landscaping methods, materials, and market pricing. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents with high accuracy. Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop logical and competitive cost breakdowns.
