We are looking for a qualified Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory Services department. Reporting to the Laboratory Services Supervisor, you will perform laboratory tests and procedures ordered by our medical staff to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will work closely with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine clinical laboratory tests for the diagnosis and treatment of disease using standard techniques and equipment
- Prepare specimens and perform analytical tests using manual and automated equipment
- Draw blood and receive or obtain other specimens; identify, label, and store specimens correctly
- Receive and review requisitions for routine and special diagnostic tests and procedures
- Organise daily work schedules by request date, test type, sequence, and other factors
- Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report results to the appropriate clinical staff
- Comply with laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies for instrumentation and testing
- Calibrate, maintain, clean, and sterilise laboratory equipment
- Report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and arrange repairs or service
- Follow strict infection prevention and control principles
- Record daily tests and procedures in the department log and assist with records, statistics, and reports
- Monitor supply inventory and requisition supplies and equipment as needed
- Keep work areas, instruments, and equipment clean according to established procedures
- Participate in the unit's on-call rota for out-of-hours work
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legible patient records
- Participate in assigned committees such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control
- Uphold patient rights and responsibilities and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Comply with department policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department head
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology
- Board certification and a current license to practice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory setting
Skills
- Working knowledge of laboratory and hospital computer systems
- Sound knowledge of laboratory safety and infection prevention and control procedures
- Manual dexterity and technical ability to complete assigned laboratory tasks
- Strong attention to detail and compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
- Ability to build effective working relationships with physicians and colleagues
- Commitment to continuous learning and completing annual training requirements
