Role Description The High School English Teacher and Head of Department (HoD) will lead the English department while teaching high school English classes. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records. The HoD will oversee curriculum development for the English department, support and mentor English teachers, coordinate departmental meetings, and ensure consistent teaching and assessment practices. Additional duties include collaborating with school leadership on academic improvement initiatives, communicating regularly with families about student progress, and contributing to school events, clubs, and activities related to English and literacy.
Qualifications
- Strong subject-matter expertise in English language and literature, including contemporary and classic texts.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum planning, lesson design, and assessment for high school English courses.
- Proven leadership skills in managing a department, mentoring teachers, and coordinating academic programs.
- Excellent classroom management, instructional, and differentiation skills to support varied learning needs.
- Clear, professional communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a closely related field; teaching certification or license is preferred.
- Several years of successful high school teaching experience, with prior HoD or team-lead experience considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with international or blended curricula and openness to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, engage families constructively, and contribute to a positive school culture.
