Arabian Explosives (AREX) is seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead all aspects of our business operations. Reporting to the Board, this is a critical executive leadership role responsible for driving business growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the continued development of our people, products, and customer relationships.
AREX is a leading manufacturer and supplier of commercial explosives, detonators, emulsion products, and blasting services, supporting mining, quarrying, construction, and infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic leader with strong experience in explosives, mining, chemicals, manufacturing, or other high-hazard industrial environments to shape the future direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the AREX business.
- Develop and execute business growth, operational, and commercial strategies.
- Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all manufacturing and operational facilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulators, suppliers, shareholders, and industry stakeholders.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and sustainable business performance.
- Lead, develop, and motivate a multi-disciplinary leadership team.
- Ensure full compliance with all explosives, environmental, health, safety, security, and transport regulations.
- Identify and deliver opportunities for operational improvement, innovation, and expansion.
- Oversee capital projects, investments, and business development initiatives.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
What We Are Looking For
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Mining, Chemistry, Business, or a related discipline.
- Extensive senior leadership experience within explosives, mining, quarrying, chemicals, manufacturing, or other high-hazard industries.
- Strong commercial and financial management capability with responsibility for P&L performance.
- Demonstrated success leading complex operational businesses and delivering growth.
- Strong understanding of safety management, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and drive organisational performance.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience working within the Middle East or other international markets would be advantageous.
