The Job
Alpheya is looking for a Finance Associate to own day-to-day accounting, keep their books accurate and audit-ready, and support UAE VAT and Corporate Tax compliance. You will work in NetSuite, run key parts of the month-end close, and be the first point of contact for auditors on AP, AR and reconciliations.
Key responsibilities
Accounting and month-end close
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and fixed asset additions and disposals.
- Complete assigned month-end close tasks on schedule and prepare supporting schedules for the trial balance.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile it to the general ledger.
Accounts payable and receivable
- Process supplier invoices and payments, and customer invoicing and receipts.
- Perform monthly AP and AR reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations and customer ageing reviews.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
UAE VAT and Corporate Tax
- Check that purchase and sales invoices meet UAE VAT invoicing requirements.
- Prepare working papers for quarterly VAT returns, including input VAT recovery and reverse-charge entries.
- Run supplier verification checks before input VAT is claimed, in line with FTA Decision No. 13 of 2026.
- Support Corporate Tax compliance by maintaining records and helping prepare tax schedules and adjustments.
NetSuite
- Record transactions in NetSuite and keep vendor, customer and chart-of-accounts data accurate.
- Run and export standard reports and saved searches for reconciliations and management reporting.
Audit and controls
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for external auditors and respond to their queries.
- Follow internal controls and approval workflows, and flag gaps or improvements to the Finance Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- 3–4 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally including at least 2 years in the UAE or GCC.
- Solid accounting fundamentals: double-entry, journal entries, accruals and month-end close.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite; basic exposure is enough if you are comfortable learning a new ERP quickly.
- Awareness of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax rules and how they affect day-to-day transactions.
- Experience with AP and AR reconciliations and supporting an external audit.
- Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, pivot tables and basic formulas.
- Clear written and spoken English, and the ability to work to month-end deadlines with attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Part-qualified or pursuing ACCA, CMA or CPA.
- Experience preparing UAE VAT returns on the FTA EmaraTax portal.
- Exposure to IFRS reporting or an audit firm background.
