One of the prominent Middle east trading operations is looking to hire a Demurrage/ Trading Operations Analyst to manage the end-to-end demurrage claims process while supporting trading activities for bulk shipments.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete demurrage claims lifecycle from calculation to settlement.
- Review Charter Party / Sales & Purchase Contracts, NOR, SOF, timesheets and vessel documentation.
- Perform accurate laytime, demurrage and despatch calculations.
- Prepare and issue claims to suppliers, receivers, charterers and other counterparties.
- Review incoming demurrage claims and identify calculation/documentation discrepancies.
- Prepare responses, rejections, counter-offers and negotiate disputed claims.
- Monitor claim deadlines and follow up on outstanding/aging claims.
- Coordinate with Finance regarding approved claims, invoices, payments and recoveries.
- Maintain comprehensive claim trackers, documentation and periodic reports.
- Support Trading activities including Purchase Orders, Sales/Purchase Contracts, Proforma Invoices and LC arrangements for bulk shipments.
- Coordinate closely with Trading, Logistics, Operations, Finance, customers and counterparties.
Required Skills
- Experience in demurrage, laytime, chartering, shipping/trading operations or commodity trading.
- Strong knowledge of Charter Party terms, NOR, SOF and vessel operations.
- Experience handling demurrage claims from submission through settlement.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Exposure to bulk commodities / dry bulk shipments would be highly relevant.
- Understanding of Sales & Purchase contracts, POs, LCs and Proforma Invoices.
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
- Good negotiation, follow-up and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work across Trading, Operations, Logistics and Finance.
