Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented Contract Engineer to join our team, based in Doha, Qatar, and be seconded to our government-sector client.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the technical and contractual aspects of engineering and construction projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, construction teams and other stakeholders to ensure that contract requirements are properly interpreted, implemented and monitored throughout the project lifecycle.
We envisage success in this role to include:
- Reviewing and interpreting technical specifications, contract requirements and engineering documentation to ensure compliance.
- Managing and monitoring contractual requirements relating to engineering and construction activities, specifications, standards and applicable regulations.
- Monitoring project performance, milestones and deliverables to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, programme and budget.
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers, construction teams and design teams to ensure contract requirements are properly incorporated into project activities.
- Managing technical and scope changes, variations and contract amendments, including their documentation, communication and implementation.
- Preparing and maintaining contract documentation, including tender bulletins, negotiations, clarifications and approved qualifications.
- Reviewing work and service scopes for tenders and change requests in coordination with the relevant technical teams.
- Preparing regular contract status, performance and compliance reports for senior management.
- Monitoring and supporting the resolution of non-conformities and contractual issues.
- Managing and supervising construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Monitoring the RFI process, ensuring Site Teams are raising RFIs as required, reviewing RFIs and coordinating with the Design Manager on contractor design elements.
- Supporting the review of contractor submissions, technical documentation and other contractual deliverables.
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in contract management or contract engineering, preferably within the construction or engineering sector.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Contract Engineer role or equivalent.
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering and construction practices, with the ability to interpret and manage technical contract requirements.
- Sound knowledge of contract administration, contract law and project management principles.
- Proven experience in managing variations, scope changes, technical queries and contractual issues.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A professional certification in contract management, such as CPCM or equivalent, would be advantageous.
- Experience with contract management software and tools would be advantageous.
