Your Opportunity
We are looking for an Assistant Technician - Water Network Pump Mechanic to carry out preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on various types of pumps, individually or as part of a technical team, within a designated area while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
The role will be based at Dubai Airports.
Key Accountabilities
- Inspect, diagnose and perform major and minor repairs on various types of pumps, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls, valves and related equipment.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, engines and compressors.
- Carry out installation, repair and maintenance of pipes, valves, fittings and drainage systems.
- Perform pump overhauling and repair activities.
- Inspect and maintain pressure vessels, oil interceptors and backflow preventer assemblies.
- Carry out maintenance activities on irrigation pumps and systems.
- Carry out maintenance activities on stormwater pumps and systems.
- Maintain aircraft potable water systems and associated valves.
- Maintain sewage pumps and associated pipework.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
- Safely perform electrical isolations and LOTO procedures on LV equipment and systems.
- Read, interpret and understand electrical drawings, including circuit, wiring, schematic and layout drawings.
- Correctly set up and use electrical test equipment and interpret test results.
- Apply relevant local and international electrical standards and regulations.
- Follow all general and technical safety requirements to ensure the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Electrical Supervisor or Duty Engineer to support operational requirements.
Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Diploma, 3-year duration, in Mechanical Maintenance or a related discipline, or an equivalent post-high-school qualification.
- IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent.
- Current valid UAE driving licence is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a pump repair or maintenance environment, or a similar large-scale facility.
- Experience in an airport or comparable operational environment is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, hydraulic equipment, compressors, valves and related mechanical systems.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have practical experience in:
- Pump inspection, diagnosis, repair and overhauling.
- Preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
- Hydraulic systems and equipment.
- Pumps, engines and compressors.
- Valves, pipes, fittings and drainage systems.
- Irrigation, stormwater, potable water and sewage pump systems.
- Electrical isolation and LOTO procedures.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
- Using electrical test equipment and interpreting test results.
Language & Computer Skills
- Good level of spoken and written English.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
