Role Description This is a part-time remote Accountant role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization’s fiscal integrity. The Accountant will prepare and review journal entries, reconcile bank and ledger accounts, track income and expenses, and assist with budgeting and cash flow monitoring. The role includes preparing periodic financial reports, supporting grant and project accounting, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, organizational policies, and donor requirements. The Accountant will also help with invoice processing, payment tracking, and documentation for audits or financial reviews, collaborating with program teams and leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in general accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting, with the ability to maintain accurate ledgers and prepare statements.
- Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks or similar, Microsoft Excel) and familiarity with cloud-based tools for remote work.
- Knowledge of budgeting, expense tracking, and basic financial analysis to support program and organizational decision-making.
- Understanding of compliance requirements, internal controls, and documentation practices to support audits and donor reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage part-time, remote responsibilities effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Relevant education such as a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
- Prior experience in nonprofit or development-sector accounting is beneficial but not required for strong candidates.
