Job Purpose:
Responsible for providing clinical, technical, and product support for the assigned ophthalmology product portfolio, ensuring that healthcare professionals are properly trained on product applications and use.
The Clinical Application / Product Specialist will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams to support product demonstrations, installations, clinical evaluations, customer training, and post-sales follow-up while maintaining strong relationships with ophthalmologists, surgeons, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
The position requires strong clinical ophthalmology knowledge, excellent presentation skills, and the ability to translate technical product features into practical clinical benefits.
I. Clinical Application & Training Function:
Providing comprehensive clinical and application training to ophthalmologists, surgeons, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals on assigned products and technologies.
Conducting product demonstrations, workshops, wet labs, clinical sessions, and hands-on training when required.
Supporting healthcare professionals during the initial use and implementation of new products, equipment, or technologies.
Providing clinical support during procedures and surgeries when required.
Ensuring customers understand proper product usage, clinical applications, safety requirements, and best practices.
Assessing customers' training needs and providing appropriate customized training programs.
Following up with customers after training sessions to ensure proper product utilization and address any clinical or technical questions.
Maintaining excellent knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, clinical practices, technologies, and developments related to the assigned product portfolio.
Continuously updating clinical and scientific knowledge by reviewing relevant studies, publications, articles, and industry developments.
II. Product & Marketing Function:
Developing an in-depth understanding of the assigned ophthalmology product portfolio, including product features, benefits, indications, applications, and competitive advantages.
Supporting the introduction and launch of new products in coordination with Sales and Marketing teams.
Conducting product presentations for customers, internal teams, distributors, and other relevant stakeholders.
Supporting the Marketing team in preparing clinical presentations, product materials, training content, and educational activities.
Participating in conferences, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and other ophthalmology-related events.
Collecting market feedback regarding products, clinical needs, competitors, and emerging technologies and communicating relevant findings to management.
Maintaining strong knowledge of competitive products, including specifications, applications, positioning, strengths, and limitations.
Supporting the development of Key Opinion Leader relationships and clinical reference sites whenever applicable.
Providing clinical and scientific input to support marketing strategies and product positioning.
III. Sales Support Function:
Working closely with the Sales team during customer visits, demonstrations, evaluations, and product presentations.
Providing clinical and technical expertise during the sales process to support customer decision-making.
Identifying customer needs and recommending suitable products or solutions based on clinical requirements.
Supporting product trials and clinical evaluations and ensuring proper follow-up with customers.
Assisting the Sales team in addressing clinical and technical objections raised by customers.
Supporting strategic accounts and maintaining strong professional relationships with key customers.
Providing clinical input for quotations, tenders, and product specifications whenever required.
Supporting the Sales team in achieving product adoption and sales objectives through effective clinical education and application support.
IV. Technical & Customer Support Function:
Acting as a primary point of contact for clinical and application-related inquiries regarding assigned products.
Troubleshooting product application issues and coordinating with Technical, Sales, or manufacturer teams whenever necessary.
Handling customer concerns professionally and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
Supporting equipment installations and commissioning from an application and clinical perspective when required.
Documenting customer feedback, clinical issues, and product-related observations and escalating them to the concerned departments.
Coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers regarding clinical updates, product training, application matters, and product developments.
V. Managerial / Administrative Function:
Preparing and maintaining records of customer trainings, demonstrations, product evaluations, and clinical support activities.
Updating CRM with customer activities, training history, product feedback, and follow-up requirements.
Preparing regular reports regarding clinical activities, customer feedback, market observations, and product performance.
Planning customer visits and training schedules in coordination with the Sales Manager and Product/Business Unit Manager.
Managing assigned territory and activities efficiently while optimizing time and resources.
Ensuring compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
VI. Special Conditions for the Job:
This is primarily a field-based position requiring frequent visits to hospitals, clinics, surgical centers, and other healthcare facilities.
The position may require attendance during ophthalmic procedures or surgeries depending on the assigned product portfolio.
Regular travel within the assigned territory and occasional regional or international travel may be required.
Attendance at conferences, exhibitions, workshops, product launches, and training events is required whenever needed.
Flexibility in working hours may be required depending on surgical schedules, customer training, and clinical support requirements.
VII. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Optometry, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, Biology, or another relevant scientific/healthcare discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the ophthalmology field, preferably in a Clinical Application Specialist, Product Specialist, Clinical Specialist, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology products, technologies, procedures, and clinical applications.
- Previous experience working directly with ophthalmologists, surgeons, hospitals, clinics, and operating room teams.
- Experience providing clinical training, product demonstrations, and application support.
- Strong presentation and training skills.

- Ability to explain complex clinical and technical information clearly.
