Role Description The Ph.D in Law role at Cross Word is a full-time, on-site position based in Duhok Governorate, Iraq. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting original legal research, preparing scholarly publications, and contributing to academic conferences and seminars. The role involves teaching law courses at the graduate and/or undergraduate level, mentoring students, supervising theses, and participating in curriculum development. The candidate will collaborate with colleagues on research projects, support institutional initiatives related to legal education and policy, and engage with legal professionals and community stakeholders. Maintaining high ethical standards, staying current with developments in national and international law, and contributing to a collegial academic culture are essential aspects of this position.
Qualifications
- Completed Ph.D in Law or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution, with a strong record of academic achievement.
- Demonstrated experience in legal research and scholarly writing, including publications in reputable journals or academic presses.
- Prior teaching or lecturing experience in law, with the ability to design and deliver clear, engaging, and rigorous coursework.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills applied to complex legal issues and interdisciplinary contexts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Kurdish or Arabic) is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervise students effectively, and contribute to institutional committees and projects.
