Role Description The Head of Department role is a full-time, on-site position based at Jinan University in the Koura District. The Head of Department is responsible for leading the academic and administrative activities of the department, including planning curricula, overseeing course delivery, and ensuring alignment with university standards and accreditation requirements. Daily tasks include supervising faculty members and staff, managing schedules and workloads, monitoring academic performance and research output, and promoting a positive learning environment for students. The role involves coordinating departmental meetings, contributing to strategic planning, developing partnerships, and supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives. The Head of Department also represents the department in university committees, manages the departmental budget, and supports faculty recruitment, evaluation, and professional development.
Qualifications
- * Advanced academic degree in a relevant discipline (preferably PhD), with a strong record of teaching and research at the university level.
- Demonstrated experience in academic leadership or departmental management, including curriculum development and program coordination.
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor faculty and students, and to foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills, with experience in managing budgets and administrative processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and participate in institutional committees.
- Experience with quality assurance, accreditation processes, and implementation of academic policies and standards.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, student-centered education, and promotion of scientific research and innovation.
- Fluency in relevant working languages of the university (e.g., Arabic and/or English), with strong academic writing and presentation skills.
