We are seeking a forward-thinking, highly analytical, and visionary Futurist to identify emerging trends, technologies, societal shifts, and market developments that may shape the organization’s future.
The successful candidate will conduct strategic foresight research, develop future scenarios, assess emerging opportunities and risks, and provide actionable insights to support long-term strategy, innovation, investment, and business planning.
The ideal candidate should combine intellectual curiosity with strong analytical and strategic thinking, the ability to connect seemingly unrelated developments, and the communication skills required to translate complex future trends into practical business implications.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and analyze emerging trends across technology, business, economics, society, consumer behavior, geopolitics, and relevant industries.
• Identify weak signals, disruptive developments, emerging technologies, and structural changes that could affect the organization.
• Conduct strategic foresight, horizon scanning, trend analysis, and future-oriented research.
• Develop short-, medium-, and long-term outlooks to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Build alternative future scenarios and assess their potential implications for the organization, industry, customers, and markets.
• Identify emerging opportunities, threats, risks, and potential sources of competitive advantage.
• Evaluate technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, biotechnology, advanced computing, renewable energy, and other emerging fields where relevant.
• Assess how technological, economic, environmental, regulatory, demographic, and social changes may influence future business models.
• Translate complex future trends and research findings into clear, actionable strategic recommendations.
• Prepare executive briefings, foresight reports, trend reports, presentations, strategic outlooks, and scenario-planning materials.
• Present future-oriented insights to senior management, executives, strategic planning teams, and other key stakeholders.
• Support corporate strategy, innovation, investment, product development, business transformation, and long-term planning initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops, scenario-planning sessions, innovation discussions, and strategic foresight exercises.
• Develop frameworks and methodologies for assessing uncertainty, disruption, resilience, and future opportunities.
• Collaborate with Strategy, Innovation, R&D, Marketing, Technology, Finance, and other functions to incorporate future insights into business planning.
• Establish relationships with researchers, academics, technology companies, entrepreneurs, think tanks, industry experts, and other external sources of knowledge.
• Track competitor innovation, disruptive business models, emerging markets, and industry transformation.
• Conduct research on changing customer needs, behaviors, expectations, and consumption patterns.
• Challenge conventional assumptions and encourage long-term, evidence-based thinking across the organization.
• Identify potential future capabilities, skills, technologies, partnerships, and investments required for long-term competitiveness.
• Develop early-warning indicators and monitoring frameworks for major external changes and emerging risks.
• Contribute to innovation pipelines and help prioritize future opportunities based on strategic relevance and potential impact.
• Continuously refine forecasting, scenario-planning, and strategic foresight methodologies.
✅ Requirements
• Proven experience in Futurism, Strategic Foresight, Futures Studies, Innovation Strategy, Strategic Planning, Research, Consulting, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies, global trends, market dynamics, and societal change.
• Excellent research, analytical, critical-thinking, and pattern-recognition abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to identify emerging trends and evaluate their potential business implications.
• Strong experience with scenario planning, horizon scanning, trend analysis, forecasting, or other foresight methodologies.
• Ability to connect developments across different industries, disciplines, technologies, and social systems.
• Excellent strategic thinking and ability to operate effectively under uncertainty and ambiguity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Excellent presentation and storytelling capabilities, particularly when communicating future scenarios to senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to distinguish meaningful structural trends from short-term hype or noise.
• Experience conducting primary and secondary research using credible data, expert interviews, industry reports, academic research, and other sources.
• Strong proficiency in research, data analysis, visualization, presentation, and strategic planning tools.
• Experience with AI, data analytics, technology strategy, innovation management, or digital transformation is an advantage.
• Strong curiosity, creativity, intellectual independence, and willingness to challenge established assumptions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, researchers, technologists, strategists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Futures Studies, Business, Economics, Technology, Sociology, Political Science, Innovation, Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Master’s degree or advanced qualification in Strategic Foresight, Futures Studies, Innovation, Strategy, or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Experience working with multinational organizations, innovation labs, strategy teams, think tanks, research institutions, or consulting firms is highly desirable.
