Purpose of the Job:
The role combines financial modeling, commercial analysis and market research. You will help turn project data, technical inputs and market developments into analyses that support pricing, investment and management decisions.
Working under the guidance of the Business Analysis Section Head and senior team members, you will collaborate with Business Development, Finance, Investment, Project Development and Technical teams. You will take increasing ownership of defined analyses as your technical skills and commercial understanding develop.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling and Project Analysis
- Build and update financial models and analytical schedules for solar PV, BESS, distributed generation, power distribution and other energy and infrastructure opportunities.
- Collect, validate and organize commercial, financial and technical inputs, documenting sources and assumptions.
- Forecast revenues, operating costs, capital expenditure and cash flows using established templates; develop new analyses with guidance.
- Calculate investment metrics such as IRR, NPV and payback, and run sensitivity and scenario analyses.
- Support debt schedules and project finance models under senior review, checking formulas, units, timing and consistency.
- Explain the key drivers of results and flag errors, uncertain assumptions and missing information early.
Commercial Analysis and Pricing
- Support pricing calculations and customer proposals by analyzing consumption profiles, tariffs, costs and contract assumptions.
- Compare project economics under alternative commercial terms, financing assumptions and customer demand scenarios.
- Quantify the impact of changes in electricity tariffs, fuel prices and foreign exchange rates, and summarize findings for team review.
Financing and Investment Support
- Help prepare models, schedules and supporting information for lenders, investors and financial advisors.
- Analyze financing terms and calculate debt service coverage ratios and other financing metrics with guidance.
- Support opportunity screening, valuations, business cases and expansion assessments through research and financial analysis.
- Prepare supporting materials and draft responses to model questions for review by senior team members.
Market and Economic Research
- Research electricity tariffs, regulation, PV and BESS economics, fuel prices, financing conditions, inflation and foreign exchange developments.
- Maintain reliable sources and organized research records, distinguishing confirmed facts from estimates.
- Prepare concise market updates that explain potential implications for project economics and KarmSolar’s commercial decisions.
Portfolio Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze electricity consumption, generation, revenues, costs and actual versus budget performance for operating projects.
- Support forecast updates and investigate material variances, raising questions with the relevant teams.
- Prepare clear Excel analyses, PowerPoint presentations and short written summaries for internal review.
Process Improvement and Team Collaboration
- Maintain organized files, model versions, input records and assumption logs so analyses can be reviewed and reproduced.
- Improve recurring templates and identify opportunities to reduce manual work and strengthen quality checks.
- Coordinate data requests, follow through on agreed deadlines and communicate progress and blockers promptly.
- Apply feedback, share useful research and contribute to consistent analytical standards across the team.
Educational background, Skills and Experience required:
- 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in financial or commercial analysis, corporate finance, project finance, transaction advisory, investment analysis, consulting, renewable energy, infrastructure or a related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics or another relevant quantitative discipline. Relevant courses or professional qualifications are an advantage.
- Energy-sector experience is helpful but not required. Strong analytical foundations, evidence of learning ability and interest in energy and infrastructure are central to this role.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, logical functions, pivot tables, data checks and clearly structured analytical workbooks.
- Practical experience building or updating financial models, forecasts or business cases, with an understanding of how assumptions affect results.
- Working knowledge of financial statements, cash flows, revenue and cost forecasting, capital expenditure, working capital and investment returns.
- Ability to perform sensitivity analysis and interpret IRR, NPV and payback calculations.
- Ability to prepare clear PowerPoint slides and concise written summaries, and to research and validate information from credible sources.
