Responsibility and Focus
We are looking for a conceptually strong and visually driven Art Director who can turn strategic briefs into original, culturally relevant ideas and execute them to a high standard across channels. The role covers 360-degree campaigns, social, digital, content and offline communications for a brand targeting Gen Z audiences.
The Art Director will work closely with copywriters, designers, motion specialists, production and business teams to develop ideas, shape the visual direction and deliver strong creative work. This is a hands-on creative role, with a balance of concept development and execution.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop original creative concepts from strategic briefs, insights and audience understanding.
- Translate ideas into clear and distinctive visual directions across integrated campaigns.
- Take projects from initial concept and visual exploration through to final execution and delivery.
- Work closely with copywriters and other creatives to ensure the idea and visual execution work together.
- Create and adapt work across social, digital, film, content, print, OOH, activations and other relevant formats.
- Produce high-quality visual work with strong attention to typography, composition, imagery, colour and detail.
- Collaborate with designers, illustrators, photographers, filmmakers, motion designers and production partners as required.
- Contribute to shoots and production through moodboards, visual references, treatments, storyboards and on-set creative input where relevant.
- Present creative ideas clearly to internal teams and clients, and respond constructively to feedback.
- Stay close to culture, social behaviours, design, technology and emerging creative formats, particularly those relevant to Gen Z.
- Use AI-powered creative tools thoughtfully to support ideation, visual exploration, storyboarding and production.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining creative quality and meeting deadlines.
Creative and Technical Capabilities
- Strong conceptual thinking and visual storytelling, with the ability to build an idea rather than simply execute a layout.
- Strong art direction and design skills, with a good eye for typography, composition, imagery, colour and detail.
- Highly proficient across Adobe Creative Suite and comfortable using AI-powered creative tools as part of the creative workflow.
- Strong understanding of social and digital-first creative, including how ideas adapt across formats and platforms.
- Good understanding of film, animation and motion graphics. Hands-on motion skills are an advantage, not a requirement.
- Able to create compelling moodboards, visual references and presentations that clearly communicate a creative direction.
- Able to receive creative direction, build on feedback and push the work further.
Cultural and Strategic Mindset
- Understands how strategy, audience insight and brand positioning translate into creative ideas.
- Strong awareness of culture, consumer behaviour, visual trends and emerging platforms, particularly within Gen Z audiences.
- Curious about new creative technologies and willing to experiment with new tools and ways of working.
- Able to use cultural insight and trends in a way that feels relevant and original rather than simply following what is popular.
- Understands the client's brief and business challenge while keeping the creative idea strong.
Collaboration and Ways of Working
- Collaborative and open, with the ability to work well across creative, strategy, account and production teams.
- Comfortable working alongside other creatives and specialist partners without needing to manage or supervise them.
- Takes ownership of their own projects and is accountable for the quality of their work.
- Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to solve problems and move work forward.
- Communicates clearly, listens well and handles feedback professionally.
Education and Experience
- 3+ years of relevant agency or creative industry experience, with flexibility for candidates whose portfolio demonstrates the right level.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating original concepts, visual storytelling, art direction and a high standard of execution across multiple channels.
- Experience developing campaigns from brief and concept through to execution.
- Comfortable presenting creative ideas internally and, where relevant, to clients.
- Experience working collaboratively with copywriters, designers, production teams and other creative specialists.
- Experience with Gen Z, youth, culture-led or social-first brands is an advantage.
What We Will Look for in the Portfolio
- Ideas first: evidence of conceptual thinking, not only polished design.
- A clear explanation of the candidate's own role and contribution to each piece of work.
- Strong visual storytelling and the ability to build a distinctive creative world around an idea.
- Range across channels and formats while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Strong craft, taste and attention to detail.
- Where relevant, thoughtful use of AI and emerging tools as part of the creative process.
