We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager.
This is a leadership position within a large, complex and highly visible 3PL operation. The site has been live for almost 5 years years and has recently moved into a more stable phase following a demanding start-up period and a major transition from predominantly manual operations towards automation. Service performance is currently at a good level and the automated operation is beginning to deliver. The next phase requires an operational leader who can build a cohesive management team, further professionalise the operation and strengthen the long-term commercial partnership with the customer.
As Operations Manager you are responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the (large) site with particular emphasis on managing warehouse associates and implementing warehouse action plans. Establish and maintain procedures for meeting company and customer commitments. Promote and implement continual improvement. Train, motivate and lead within area of responsibility. Facilitate conflict resolution and enforce company policies/procedures.
The opportunity
The Operations Manager will take responsibility for a substantial logistics operation and have the following responsibilities:
▪ Work with site manager to define requirements for operations and ensure that the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed these requirements as well as customer expectations.
▪ Focus on LEAN techniques, quality management processes, and cost control methodologies within the operations to achieve company goals & profit levels; continued business growth; and long-term relationships with customers.
▪ Assigns duties and monitors work completion for accuracy.
▪ Manages performance continually; develops associates by providing training and coaching.
▪ Maintains a safe work environment and fosters a positive team dynamic, resolving employee relations issues and administering corrective action as required.
▪ Ensures daily distribution and light manufacturing activities are executed and accountable for performance shortfalls – develop corrective action plans when performance falls below target.
▪ Supervises and develops staff and otherwise carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
▪ Responsible for exceeding customer metrics (cost, quality, and responsiveness).
▪ Implement and coach Lean Warehousing System and processes.
▪ Lead start-up activities with cross functional teams.
▪ Daily interaction with internal and external customer is required.
▪ Accountable for personnel scheduling to support all shifts and accounts, plan and organize staff workload.
▪ Maintain documentation of processes that are followed by the department.
▪ Train associates so an up to date understanding of processes, policies and procedures are maintained.
▪ Work safely as per Health & Safety trainings, standards, procedures and processes and actively contribute to a safer work environment for colleagues and visitors.
▪ Contribution to structural reduction of negative environmental impact from usage of natural resources (a/o energy, water, fuel) and from emissions (waste, carbon) and to contribute to environmental performance initiatives.
▪ Adhere to applicable legal requirements, industry standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
We are looking for someone with:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area with accompanying high level analytical skills.
▪ Broad experience in the field of Supply Chain.
▪ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a complex and multidimensional organisation.
▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
▪ Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in Dutch and English. French and German are an
advantage.
