Role Overview:
To support our continued growth, we are currently looking for a talented Java Backend Developer to join our engineering team, to design, develop, maintain, and enhance Orbt.com's backend platforms by delivering reliable, secure, and scalable Java-based solutions that power our gift card, payout, and financial technology products.
The role involves building high-performance backend services, developing robust APIs and integrations, and contributing to cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems. The ideal candidate will help drive technical excellence, improve system reliability, and contribute to the continuous evolution of our fintech ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Ensure high code quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering best practices and standards.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, including microservices design, API contracts, and system integrations.
- Develop and maintain reliable solutions for gift card processing, payout operations, and financial transaction workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams, to deliver reliable and performant solutions.
- Proactively identify system bottlenecks, performance issues, and opportunities for optimization.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient services capable of handling high-volume transactions.
- Work with AWS cloud services to deploy, operate, and improve backend applications and infrastructure.
- Contribute to production stability through incident resolution, root cause analysis, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Follow secure development practices and contribute to protecting sensitive customer and financial data.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in backend development using Java.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Java and the Spring Boot / Spring Framework ecosystem.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend integrations.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and cloud-based application deployment.
- Proficiency with Git and modern software development practices.
- Understanding of software engineering principles, including OOP, SOLID, and clean code.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to have)
- Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, RDS, API Gateway, S3, Cognito, AWS Lambda Functions, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with reactive programming and Spring WebFlux.
- Knowledge of payment systems, gift card platforms, payout workflows, or other fintech solutions.
- Understanding of transaction processing, system resilience, and fault-tolerant architectures.
- Experience with automated testing and performance optimization.
