Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced General Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of UAE accounting experience to independently manage the company’s complete accounting function. The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing, and finalization of accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently handle the complete accounting cycle, including day-to-day bookkeeping, GL, AP, AR and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual closing of accounts.
- Handle year-end finalization of accounts and prepare schedules required for external audit.
- Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, intercompany reconciliations.
- Review receivables and payables and monitor ageing and outstanding balances.
- Handle accruals, provisions, prepayments, depreciation and other adjustment entries.
- Prepare and reconcile UAE VAT calculations and VAT returns and ensure compliance with FTA requirements.
- Maintain proper tax documentation and supporting records for FTA requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, banks and other financial institutions.
- Provide required schedules and explanations during audit and tax reviews.
- Monitor accounting controls and ensure transactions are properly supported and authorized.
- Review accounting entries and identify discrepancies, errors or unusual balances.
- Handle inventory, fixed assets, expenses and other relevant accounting areas where applicable.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting and tax records.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the UAE
- Strong practical knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax.
- Proven experience in independent handling of complete accounts.
- Hands-on experience in month-end and year-end closing and finalization of accounts.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and preferably IFRS.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to meet strict reporting, VAT, Corporate Tax and audit deadlines.
