The incumbent will lead the Finance & Accounting function supporting the Oil Trading business, providing accurate trade finance, risk, and management reporting to enable effective decision-making. The role manages financial control, working capital, and treasury activities across physical and paper oil trading operations
Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation and presentation of financial statements for assigned trading entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage trade finance instruments (letters of credit, documentary collections, guarantees) and liaise with banks and trade finance providers to support physical oil trading operations.
- Monitor and report on mark-to-market (MTM) positions, hedging activity, and commodity price risk in coordination with the trading and risk desks.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital across trading cycles, including cargo financing, demurrage, and freight settlements.
- Coordinate and manage external and internal audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and trade/commodity regulations; ensure compliance with financial and legal reporting obligations (CBCR, ESR, UBO declarations, etc.).
- Contribute to the consolidation of accounts across group trading entities.
- Supervise preparation, filing, and reconciliation of taxes, VAT/WHT, customs duties, and related refunds and claims.
- Review and validate trade settlements, invoicing, and reconciliation of physical cargo and paper (derivatives) positions.
- Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster growth and development.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including traders, executives, board members, investors, auditors, brokers, and regulatory authorities.
- Support ad-hoc projects, new trade structures, and market entry initiatives as requested by the Line Manager.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA, CMA, CFA, or ACA/ACCA/CPA qualification highly preferred.
- 12+ years' experience in finance, with a significant portion in oil/commodity trading, energy, or a related trading environment.
- In-depth knowledge of physical and financial (paper) oil trading structures, trade finance instruments, and commodity risk management.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax/customs compliance relevant to cross-border commodity trading.
- Demonstrated experience working with letters of credit, hedging/derivatives accounting, and multi-jurisdictional entity structures.
Skills Required
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of CTRM systems (e.g. Eka, Aspect, ComTrak, Amphora) and SAP preferred.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, including FI/CO modules (GL, A/P, A/R, bank accounting), month-end close, and reporting (Fiori apps/embedded analytics); exposure to MM/SD integration for cargo purchase/sales flows is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial and trading data, including MTM and P&L attribution.
