Does This Sound Like You?
You're an experienced data engineer who gets excited about landing the rapidly evolving Fabric stack at data-driven enterprises the right way. You don't just build pipelines you think about how to do it right. You care about defining best practices, bringing software engineering discipline to the data platform world, and making things work at scale. You're pragmatic, opinionated where it matters, and always looking to raise the bar.
The Xebia Data Division
Xebia Data is one of Xebia's divisions, renowned for its expertise in building strong Data and AI practices that deliver value to our clients. In the past, our team has predicted daily bread demand for millions of loaves, built advanced energy-saving algorithms at a national scale, and established data innovation labs at large multinational companies!
You’ll work with the sharpest data professionals in Europe, people who are not only technically brilliant but also generous with their knowledge. We enjoy the benefits of being part of a large organization while maintaining the energetic atmosphere of a scale-up. Our commitment to our community is strong; we are deeply rooted in the local landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing To Make Organizations Data-Driven
Microsoft Fabric is becoming the go-to data platform for many organizations, and teams are eager to unlock its full potential. That's where you come in. You'll help clients adopt Fabric the right way: with proper engineering practices, reproducible deployments, testable code, and architectures that don't fall apart at scale.
Your day-to-day will include designing lakehouses and data pipelines in Fabric, but also tackling the harder questions: How do you set up CI/CD for Fabric? How do you manage environments and promotion? How do you structure a workspace for a team of ten? You'll define the patterns others follow.
Fabric is your main focus, but you stay curious. You keep an eye on the broader ecosystem, whether that's Azure, AWS, GCP, or open-source tools like Spark, Terraform, and dbt. You understand that good engineering principles transfer across platforms, and you bring that perspective to every engagement.
You use your communication skills as much as your technical skills. You explain your design choices, align stakeholders, and help client teams make confident and informed decisions about their data platform. You will be surrounded by experts from diverse fields and learn from different environments and industries. It’s not always easy, but it is always rewarding.
You will work on projects of varying lengths. Some are three weeks, some are one year, most are in between. Every project is different, as is every client. You'll work in mixed teams of Xebians and client engineers, building the foundations that power data products
When on-site with clients, you may encounter something very difficult to solve. At Xebia we work as a team and we've got your back. Everyone is just a message away and ready to help! We say People First, and we mean it.
What are we looking for
The Data Engineer role is a senior position integral to our teams, so we ask for at least 3 years of relevant Data Engineering work, with at least 1.5 years of that working with (or helping to transfer to) Fabric. That said, we’re always open to talent that stands out! If you have unique achievements, like contributing to open-source projects or founding your own startup, we encourage you to apply, no matter your experience level.
This is your dream job if….
‚úÖ You have hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and want to push it further by defining best practices, not just following tutorials.
‚úÖ You care about software engineering fundamentals like version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review, and you want to bring these to the Fabric ecosystem.
‚úÖ You think about scale. You've dealt with (or are eager to tackle) the challenges that come when data volumes, team sizes, and complexity grow.
‚úÖ You're curious beyond Fabric. You have experience with or interest in other clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools like Spark, Terraform, dbt, or Airflow.
‚úÖ You like working for different clients and enjoy learning in new environments and meeting new people on a regular basis in various locations.
This is not your dream job if….
‚ùå You prefer clicking through UIs over writing code. We believe in engineering our data platforms, not just configuring them.
‚ùå You're not interested in how things work under the hood. We want people who dig deeper.
‚ùå You prefer to work alone and get drained from having to explain why you made certain technical choices.
‚ùå You don't enjoy sharing knowledge. We write, speak, and teach because it's part of who we are.
‚ùå If you do not live in North Brabant, Limburg, or Gelderland.
The Xebia Way
