Position Overview
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, execution, and supervision of construction activities on a port infrastructure project, ensuring the work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to required quality and regudlatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site port construction activities (civil works, dredging support, utilities and infrastructure construction, etc.).
- Manage subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Monitor project schedule, budget, and quality against contract requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards and local regulations.
- Liaise with client representatives, engineers, consultants, and government/port authorities.
- Report progress to project management/senior leadership.
- Resolve technical and logistical issues on site.
- Manage procurement and materials logistics related to construction activities.
Mandatory Candidate Requirements
- Criteria
- Experience : Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in construction management. Proven experience in port/marine/heavy civil infrastructure construction (required)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master's a plus)
- International Experience: Prior experience working in Africa or similar developing-market/remote-site environments (preferred)
- Language: Fluency in French or English
Preferred
- Experience with port authorities or maritime works specifically
