We are seeking a data-driven and commercially focused Cloud FinOps Analyst | Cloud Cost Manager to optimize cloud spending, improve financial visibility, and establish effective cloud cost-management practices across the organization. This role will work closely with Finance, IT, Engineering, Procurement, and business teams to monitor cloud usage, identify savings opportunities, improve cost allocation, and align cloud investments with business value.
üéØ Key Responsibilities‚Ä¢ Analyze cloud consumption, spending patterns, usage trends, and cost drivers across cloud environments.
• Monitor and manage cloud expenditure across services, accounts, subscriptions, projects, and business units.
• Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards, reports, forecasts, and financial models.
• Establish cost-allocation and chargeback/showback methodologies across departments and teams.
• Track cloud budgets, spending limits, forecasts, and actual expenditure.
• Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary cloud costs without compromising performance or reliability.
• Analyze compute, storage, database, networking, and other cloud-service costs.
• Monitor resource utilization and identify underutilized, idle, oversized, or unnecessary resources.
• Recommend rightsizing, scheduling, scaling, reserved-capacity, savings-plan, and other optimization strategies.
• Evaluate cloud pricing models and assess their financial impact on business operations.
• Support cloud budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and long-term cost projections.
• Develop accurate cost forecasts based on historical usage, business growth, and planned technology initiatives.
• Investigate significant cost variances and provide explanations and corrective recommendations.
• Partner with Engineering and DevOps teams to integrate cost awareness into cloud architecture and development practices.
• Collaborate with IT and Cloud teams to establish cloud cost-management standards and governance processes.
• Support the implementation of FinOps practices throughout the cloud lifecycle.
• Monitor cloud spending against approved budgets and escalate significant deviations when appropriate.
• Establish and monitor cloud cost KPIs, efficiency metrics, and optimization targets.
• Analyze unit economics such as cost per customer, transaction, application, workload, or business service.
• Support business cases and financial assessments for new cloud services, migrations, and technology investments.
• Evaluate the financial impact of cloud migration, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Work with Procurement teams to review cloud contracts, pricing arrangements, discounts, and vendor commitments.
• Analyze billing statements and reconcile cloud invoices with internal financial records.
• Identify billing anomalies, unexpected charges, duplicate costs, and potential billing errors.
• Develop cost-optimization recommendations and track realized savings.
• Maintain documentation of cloud-cost policies, allocation models, governance standards, and optimization procedures.
• Provide financial insights to technology leaders and senior management for cloud investment decisions.
• Promote cost accountability and FinOps awareness across engineering, IT, finance, and business teams.
• Continuously improve cloud cost-management processes, reporting accuracy, automation, and financial visibility.
✅ Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• Previous experience in FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, Technology Finance, IT Financial Management, Cloud Operations, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and cloud financial management principles.
• Experience working with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud billing structures, pricing models, usage metrics, and cost drivers.
• Experience analyzing cloud expenditure and identifying cost-optimization opportunities.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
• Experience with cloud cost-management and FinOps tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud billing consoles, cost explorers, budgets, alerts, and reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud resource tagging, account structures, cost centers, and cost-allocation models.
• Understanding of chargeback, showback, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to translate technical cloud usage information into financial and business insights.
• Strong financial modeling and forecasting capabilities.
• Experience developing dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms is advantageous.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, APIs, or automation tools is beneficial.
• Understanding of cloud architecture, DevOps, infrastructure, and resource-utilization concepts is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work across Finance, IT, Engineering, Procurement, and business teams.
• Ability to manage multiple cost-analysis and optimization initiatives simultaneously.
• Relevant FinOps, cloud, finance, or technology certifications are advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of technology investment and business value.
