We are currently seeking to appoint a Chief Accountant(Real Estate/Construction/Contracting experience is a MUST) to join Jaber Group Real Estate in Verdun, Beirut.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Establish and run the monthly/quarterly/annual close calendar (cut-off, checklists, deliverables, and timelines) and ensure disciplined execution.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments, ensuring proper documentation, classification, and IFRS treatment.
- Prepare/review the IFRS financial statements package (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Profit or Loss, Cash Flow Statement, and Notes) and submit to the CFO within agreed timelines.
- Maintain the integrity of the GL (General Ledger) through disciplined posting controls, standardized mappings, and chart of accounts governance.
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations; clear suspense items and long-outstanding balances with root-cause correction.
- Reconcile intercompany balances monthly, resolve mismatches before closing, and maintain elimination-ready schedules where required.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation/review of statutory filings including VAT (Value Added Tax), corporate income tax, withholding tax, and other required declarations (as applicable by entity/jurisdiction).
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting through validated assumptions, run-rate analysis, and CFO-aligned planning templates.
- Monitor actuals vs budget and prepare variance analysis with drivers, risks, and corrective recommendations.
- Maintain daily/weekly cash visibility per entity and currency, including rolling cash flow forecasts and liquidity risk flags.
- Design, implement, and periodically test internal controls (segregation of duties, approvals, system access, and override monitoring).
- Ensure effective use of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system through correct workflows, posting controls, reporting structures, and access discipline.
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate accounting team, assign responsibilities, set expectations, and ensure coverage across entities and critical cycles.
- Coach team members through structured review and on-the-job guidance to improve accuracy, speed, ownership, and control mindset.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8–12+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a senior role.
- Strong close management, multi-entity reporting, intercompany controls, treasury/cash discipline, audit coordination, and statutory compliance exposure relevant to the entities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Preferred: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CA (Chartered Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), IFRS training/certification.
