Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Breeding Specialist with proven experience managing and supporting breeding programs within large-scale livestock farms, preferably in the GCC region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective reproductive management programs, monitoring animal health and fertility, and improving breeding performance across the farm.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with large herd/flock operations, reproductive technologies, breeding protocols, fertility management, and veterinary care under GCC climatic and operational conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive animal breeding and reproductive management programs.
- Manage breeding activities across large-scale livestock farms and maintain accurate breeding records.
- Conduct reproductive examinations and monitor the reproductive health of breeding animals.
- Plan and manage artificial insemination (AI) programs, where applicable.
- Monitor heat detection, mating, conception, pregnancy, calving/lambing/kidding and postpartum performance.
- Perform pregnancy diagnosis using appropriate veterinary techniques, including ultrasound.
- Identify infertility, reproductive disorders and breeding-related health issues and recommend appropriate treatment.
- Develop strategies to improve conception rates, pregnancy rates, fertility and overall reproductive efficiency.
- Monitor breeding cycles and establish appropriate breeding schedules.
- Evaluate the reproductive performance of individual animals and breeding groups.
- Provide recommendations regarding animal selection, culling and replacement breeding stock.
- Work closely with farm management, animal nutritionists, veterinarians and farm supervisors to optimize breeding outcomes.
- Monitor the health, nutrition and body condition of breeding animals and identify factors affecting fertility.
- Establish and maintain accurate records covering breeding, pregnancy, fertility, treatment and animal performance.
- Analyze breeding and reproductive data and prepare regular performance reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with farm biosecurity, animal welfare and veterinary standards.
- Support disease prevention and reproductive disease-control programs.
- Investigate cases of repeat breeding, abortions, infertility and poor reproductive performance.
- Train and supervise farm personnel on heat detection, breeding procedures, animal handling and reproductive management.
- Maintain proper documentation of vaccinations, treatments, breeding history and reproductive outcomes.
- Participate in veterinary emergencies and provide support for general herd health when required.
Large Farm Experience
The candidate should have demonstrated experience working in large-scale commercial farms, managing significant numbers of animals and coordinating breeding activities across multiple groups or production units.
Experience should include:
- Large herd/flock management
- High-volume breeding programs
- Reproductive health monitoring
- Artificial insemination and/or controlled breeding
- Pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive examinations
- Farm-level breeding planning
- Fertility and conception-rate improvement
- Breeding records and performance analysis
- Animal selection and genetic improvement programs
- Managing breeding operations under hot-climate conditions
GCC Experience – Preferred
Candidates with previous experience in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman will be preferred, particularly those who have worked within large commercial livestock or agricultural operations.

- Farm biosecurity requirements
- Heat-stress management
- Commercial livestock production systems will be an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine / Veterinary Science (DVM or equivalent).
- Additional qualifications or specialization in Animal Reproduction, Theriogenology, Veterinary Reproduction or Animal Breeding will be an advantage.
- Valid professional veterinary registration/licence where applicable.
- Strong knowledge of livestock reproductive physiology and veterinary medicine.
Experience Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant veterinary/reproductive experience.
- Proven experience working on large-scale farms.
- Strong hands-on experience in animal breeding and reproductive management.
- Experience managing breeding programs for large numbers of animals.
- Previous GCC farm experience is highly preferred
