The Facilities Management Department / Physical Plant is currently looking for a Utilities Mechanical Technician reporting to the Utilities Mechanical Team Leader. This position is based on the Byblos Campus.
Role Summary
The Utilities Mechanical Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and installing mechanical utility systems and equipment, and performing all required preventive maintenance. S/he is also responsible for supervising outsourced mechanical works and repairing university mechanical equipment and assets.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and performs daily inspections and preventive maintenance programs for mechanical utility systems and related equipment such as boilers, hot water tanks, pumps, compressors, piping networks, valves, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, sanitary fixtures, water distribution and pressurization pumps, water and wastewater treatment plants, water filtration, water dispensers, drainage, rainwater and sewage network, irrigation, water fountain, firefighting, and other systems as assigned
- Operates and troubleshoots mechanical systems and associated control systems (e.g., BMS interfaces related to utilities)
- Supervises outsourced installation, maintenance, and repair works related to mechanical utility systems
- Troubleshoots and performs detailed fault analysis; evaluates failures and implements methods and procedures to prevent recurrence
- Checks, replaces, and maintains lubricants, filters, belts, seals, gaskets, and other mechanical consumables, parts, and accessories
- Fills out reports and reviews completed maintenance and service reports
- Establishes and maintains job-related files, training material, and support contracts
- Handles all job-related correspondence (reports, memos, emails) and communication pertinent to the assigned tasks
- Maintains constant presence in accompanying and attending to outsourced mechanical works conducted in the plant
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- * Technical Baccalaureate (BT3) degree, in a relevant field (Mechanical).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet search; ability to operate BMS software
- Willingness and capacity to learn the operation of equipment and systems through reading manuals (in English)
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, especially in verbal and written English and Arabic
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
- A pleasant, dynamic, and patient character
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
Physical demands: Physically fit to perform the above duties. Ability to lift and carry objects, and to work in various conditions
Work Schedule: The regular working days are Monday through Saturday. This position may require flexible scheduling, including night shifts, Sundays, and holidays. Adaptability is essential, as shifts are assigned on a rotational basis and may include weekends and holidays.
