York Press is an educational publishing company within the Sayegh Group, serving schools across the MENA region and beyond. We are building a new generation of e-learning platforms for schools, teachers, students, and parents, and we are looking for a UI/UX Designer to shape the experience across them.
The Role
You will design the experience for our e-learning products, used every day by schools, teachers, students, and parents. You will join at the start of the design phase and shape the product before a line of interface code is written, then stay close to the engineering team as it gets built. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, not a pixel-polishing seat.
What you'll do
- Run the full design cycle: research, definition, ideation, and high-fidelity design.
- Conduct competitive analysis of leading e-learning and edtech products, and build user personas for our audiences (teachers, students, parents, and administrators).
- Map user journeys and turn problems into clear "how might we" statements with the team.
- Produce information architecture, sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for team review and approval.
- Build and maintain a design system and component library that the engineering team can implement directly.
- Design age-appropriate experiences for different learner age groups.
- Design for both English and Arabic, including full right-to-left (RTL) layouts.
- Build accessibility in from the start, targeting WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and content teams through weekly design reviews, so design direction is agreed before it feeds development.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of UI/UX design experience shipping real web applications.
- A strong portfolio showing end-to-end work: research, wireframes, and polished final UI.
- Expert command of Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, and prototyping).
- Experience designing complex, data-heavy applications such as dashboards, admin tools, or SaaS platforms, not just marketing sites.
- Solid grasp of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive, mobile-first design.
- Experience building or contributing to a design system.
- A clear communicator who can present and defend design decisions with a team.
Nice to have
- Experience designing for education, e-learning, or products used by children.
- Experience with Arabic and RTL interfaces.
- Working knowledge of React or component-based front-end frameworks, enough to design in reusable components and hand off cleanly to engineers.
- Understanding of design-to-development handoff practices.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (including 1 hour lunch break)
- Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
