The Auxiliary Services Office is currently looking for a Driver reporting to the Logistics Manager. This position is based on the Beirut Campus.
Role Summary
The Driver is responsible for providing transport services to university executives, faculty, staff, students and guests, drop-off and pick-up of materials related to University business, and delivering mail. Additionally, the driver will be assisting with the bus shuttle operation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides transport services to all eligible LAU community from senior administration to students from/to various destinations
- Assists with the bus shuttle operations transporting students to campus and back, requiring an early morning presence. Communicates with the bus shuttle provider to maintain smooth operation
- Answers phone inquiries (outside office hours) regarding bus shuttle timing, routing, stops, etc.
- Delivers mail sent from LAU offices to suppliers, schools, universities, alumni, etc., press releases to media, and inter-campus mail and parcels
- Picks up / delivers the University’s daily mail from/to the Government Post Office and LAU campus Post Office for subsequent distribution
- Picks up the University’s requests on goods when delivery cannot be made by the supplier
- Ensures that the University vehicle that is being used is taken care of in terms of fuel refill, wash, routine inspection on oil level, etc.
- Follows up on yearly mechanic fees and drops off vehicles for yearly mechanic inspections
- Reports accidents, vehicle malfunctions, traffic violations, etc.
- Submits an accurate record of accomplished tasks
- Provides backup support when needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications
- * Baccalaureate II Diploma or its equivalent Technical Diploma (i.e. BT3) with a minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience OR Brevet with a minimum of 6 years of professional driving experience
- Public driving license
- Thorough knowledge of Lebanese territory along with familiarity with WhatsApp and Google maps
- Knowledge of written and oral English; ability to communicate in English with LAU constituents
- Ability to work during weekends, holidays, and beyond working hours as needed
Work Schedule
This position follows a work schedule from Monday to Saturday, with the possibility of additional hours based on operational needs. The driver should demonstrate flexibility and availability to respond to occasional or urgent situations as required. This position involves physical demands, including prolonged periods of driving, loading/unloading materials, and the ability to lift, carry, or move items as needed.
