Scope of the Role
The Team Leader – Landscape Design is responsible for leading a team of landscape architects and designers in delivering high-quality design projects from concept through construction. This role combines strong design leadership with project management, team development, and client relationship responsibilities. The Team Leader ensures that projects meet both creative and technical standards, while aligning with client expectations, timelines, and budget requirements.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Lead the development of landscape design concepts, master plans, and detailed designs.
- Oversee preparation of design presentations, drawings, reports, and construction documentation.
- Ensure design solutions are innovative, sustainable, and contextually appropriate.
- Review and approve design outputs to maintain quality and consistency.
- Supervise and manage day-to-day activities of the landscape design team.
- Allocate resources and assign tasks based on project needs and team capabilities.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support for junior and senior designers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify skill development opportunities.
- Serve as the main point of contact for key clients and consultants.
- Lead client meetings, workshops, and design presentations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, planners, and contractors.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes, and sustainability standards.
- Support site visits, design reviews, and construction oversight when required.
Job Competences
- Advanced knowledge of landscape architecture, site planning, and environmental design.
- Strong understanding of plant materials, hardscape elements, grading, and irrigation systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Lumion, Rhino, Revit, GIS, or BIM tools is a plus.
- Ability to lead and inspire design teams.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Conflict resolution and decision-making ability under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with client-facing responsibilities and team presentations.
- Collaborative mindset with multidisciplinary coordination experience.
Professional Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
- 10 + years of relevant experience, with 4+ years in a leadership or team management role.
- Professional registration or licensure (ASLA, CLARB, or local equivalent) is preferred.
- Proven experience in delivering landscape projects across different scales and sectors (e.g., public realm, residential, commercial, resorts, or urban infrastructure).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multicultural teams is an advantage
