Job Purpose:
Senior Urban Planner takes ownership and manages the proposal preparation from RFP review, technical and financial bid deliverables preparation, proposal submission, post tender responses till award in addition to providing technical support related to his/her area of expertise to other team members as and when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Manage proposal preparation till submission and post tender responses till award.
- Provide input related to his/her technical discipline to colleagues managing other proposals.
- Serve as a guide to less experienced/or newly joined team members.
- Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and is within the job holder’s capabilities.
Job Context/ Job Challenges:
- Proven design work experience with international engineering consultancy firms.
- Experience in Bids’ technical and commercial aspects is recommended.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture or related field.
- Relevant work experience (10+ years’) in Master Planning, Urban Planning and Urban Design projects and other major infrastructure projects.
- Extensive planning experience, either within a consultancy or local authority.
- Demonstrable experience of the planning process including the preparation and submission of planning applications.
- An understanding of sustainability issues within the public realm. (LEED or similar experience an advantage).
- Recent and relevant knowledge of the MENA engineering consultancy business.
- Experience in interfacing with subconsultants, scope of services preparation and quotations evaluation.
- Experience in providing technical methodologies and design budget calculations.
- Proficient writing skills in English and Arabic (preferred) with effective communication, translation and presentation skills.
